On January 27, Maj. Gen. (res.) Yaakov Amidror briefed JINSA leaders on the turmoil in the Middle East via conference call. Gen. Amidror is a Distinguished Fellow at JINSA's Gemunder Center for Defense and Strategy and the former National Security Advisor to Prime Minister Netanyahu.

Yaakov Amidror explains recent events in the fight between Sunnis and Shiites that took place, including the removal of global sanctions on Iran and Pakistan's announcement that it would respond to any attack on Saudi Arabia. JINSA is proud and honored to announce the addition of Lt. Gen. Rhett Hernandez, USA (Ret.) to our Board of Advisors. Gen. Hernandez served as the first Commander of Army Cyber Command (ARCYBER), where he was responsible for the daily operations and defense of all Army networks, and when directed, conducted the full range of cyberspace operations. In addition to building a cyber force of more than 17,000 people, he led the development of a wide range of transformational concepts, plans and programs to increase the Army's ability to conduct Land and Cyber operations.

On December 19, JINSA co-sponsored an EMP event with the Air Force Association. Gemunder Center Associate Director Jonathan Ruhe introduced JINSA's EMP Task Force and Report at the event with Rep. Trent Franks. The event was attended by over 50 high-level guests from the defense industry, Capitol Hill, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Energy, and other policy groups.
