2015 Generals and Admirals Program

 

Chairman Royce speaks at the 2015 Generals and Admirals Reception.

JINSA's 2015 Generals and Admirals Program began on May 13 with a reception for the delegation at the Embassy of Israel that included members of Israel's National Defense University, Chairman Ed Royce, Major General Yaakov Ayish, Israeli Defense Attache to the U.S., and a panel discussing Iran and Operation Protective Edge. On May 30, the Generals and Admirals Program will depart for Israel to meet with top echelon Israeli military and political leadership, ensuring that the American delegation is well briefed on the security concerns of Israel, as well as the key role Israel plays as a friend and ally of the U.S.

Gaza Conflict Task Force Briefs Members of Congress and Staff 

 

 

 

On May 13 and 14, the JINSA-commissioned Gaza Conflict Task Force held briefings on Capitol Hill to discuss the findings of the recently released report, 2014 Gaza Conflict Assessment: The New Face of Conflict with staff members and the media. The Task Force also met individually with 15 members of Congress from both sides of the aisle over the two days. Click the video above to watch. 


JINSA Spring Meeting in New York City 

 

We are excited to announce that Bill Kristol of The Weekly Standard and Bret Stephens of The Wall Street Journal will speak at JINSA's Spring National Leadership Meeting in New York City. Edward Morse, Global Head of Commodities Research for Citigroup will give a presentation entitled "Post sanctions: Will Iran re-enter the oil markets with a bang or a whimper?" Other topics to be discussed on Tuesday include Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons, the threat of domestic terrorism, and more.

JINSA CEO on the Consequences of an Iran Deal in The Weekly Standard

JINSA CEO Dr. Michael Makovsky and William Kristol of The Weekly Standard authored an article on May 15 explaining that "the nuclear deal with Iran would have the 'perverse consequence' both of making the Iranian regime stronger and more apt to engage in bad behavior, and of contributing to instability and nuclear proliferation in the Middle East."

House Members Support JINSA's MOPs to Israel Proposal in NY Post

 

On May 17, Reps. Grace Meng (D-Queens) and Lee Zeldin (R-LI), members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee authored an article in the New York Post in support of JINSA's proposal to transfer Massive Ordnance Penetrators (MOPs) to Israel.

Conference Calls with Chairman Ed Royce and Maj. Gen. Yaakov Amidror

During the month of May, JINSA held two National Leadership Conference calls. On May 6, 2015, U.S. Representative Ed Royce (CA-39), Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs briefed JINSA National Leaders on Iran and on May 27, Maj. Gen. Yaakov Amidror, JINSA Distinguished Fellow and former National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of Israel, gave an overall Middle East security assessment.

JINSA CEO Speaks at Leadership Event in Dallas

On May 20, JINSA CEO Dr. Michael Makovsky spoke for leaders and friends at the home of Amy and Harlan Korenvaes in Dallas, TX. The discussion focused on JINSA's Gaza Conflict Task Force and the strategies employed by Hamas during the 2014 Gaza War which threaten to undermine the effectiveness of conventional militaries, endangers civilians in irregular conflicts and distorts the international legal structure.
