The Henry M. Jackson Award Will Be Presented to Rep. Mac Thornberry

JINSA is proud to announce that this year's Henry M. "Scoop" Jackson Award will be presented to Rep. Mac Thornberry (TX-13), Vice Chairman of the Armed Services Committee, on November 17 at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, DC. This prestigious award enables JINSA to recognize and thank those leaders whose careers have been distinguished by the principle that is the foundation of JINSA's work: the belief that the United States requires a strong military capability for both its own security and for that of trustworthy friends and allies.

Lt. Gen. Michael Gould, USAF (ret.) Speaks to JINSA Friends in Aspen Colorado
On September 15, Lt. Gen. Michael Gould, USAF (ret.) spoke to JINSA friends in Aspen, CO. This was the first in a series of events that will take place in a variety of new locations for JINSA. General Gould was the 18th Superintendent of the United States Air Force Academy and participated on JINSA's 2014 Generals and Admirals Program in Israel. He spoke of his observations and experiences on the ground in Israel regarding the country's unique security challenges to over thirty people, including mostly first-time attendees to a JINSA event. JINSA looks forward to continuing to grow in Aspen, as well as nationally, and continues to accomplish its mission by having influential, recently retired American generals and admirals educate policymakers, members of Congress and their staffs, the media, and key community leaders about their lessons learned in Israel.

Lt. Gen. David Deptula, USAF (ret.) writes that those who oppose ISIL - the so-called "Islamic State (IS)" - must grasp the fact that no amount of kinetic force will make up for an inadequate plan to crush it. American power, both within and without the battlespace, will only be realized when power is guided by a comprehensive, coherent and realistic strategy.
