It is an exciting time in Morgan Hill's Downtown as we implement the Downtown Placemaking Investment Strategy

Downtown construction continues!  The Parking Structure, 3rd Street, 3rd Street Plaza, Monterey Road Streetscape, 4th Street and Utility Undergrounding are all making good progress, but definitely causing dust, noise and disruption.  While we are working diligently with all contractors to minimize construction impacts, we know that it is challenging and inconvenient at best!  We ask for your patience and flexibility as we move through this intense construction time with a focus on the positive outcome for our beautiful downtown.  The downtown construction represents a significant investment in our downtown that will benefit residents, visitors, and businesses.  It is already supporting necessary and needed new private investment in downtown.

More importantly... DOWNTOWN IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS DURING CONSTRUCTION! We encourage the whole community to come downtown during the construction time. Now is the time to make an extra effort to support downtown businesses. Explore downtown. Be curious about the construction!  Patronize our downtown businesses!

See you downtown!  Morgan Hill Downtown...It's Happening!

Opportunity Site 1 (Downtown Mall/Granada Theater)

On September 2, 2015 the Successor Agency adopted a resolution approving the purchase, sale and grant agreement between the Successor Agency to the former Morgan Hill Redevelopment Agency and Leal Vineyards, Inc. for the purchase and rehabilitation of the Granada Theater.

Tenants of the Granada vacated the building as of last week and tenants of the Cigar Shop vacated September 30.

Rehabilitation of the Granada Theater will is scheduled to begin October 6 with complete demolition of the interior space and the roof.  This construction will impact the parking lot behind the Granada as that will be used as a staging area for equipment and large dumpsters.  Monterey Road should not be impacted.

Monterey Road will continue to be limited to one lane of traffic from Dunne Avenue to Main Street due to the construction.

All work on Monterey Road is anticipated to be complete by early November.

"Dear" Family Coming to the Monterey Road Median
In an effort to involve the community with the Downtown Placemaking Investment Strategy Project activities, a mini grant program was developed in partnership with the Library, Culture and Arts Commission (LCAC). The Mini Grant program offered small grants of $500 to $10,000 for artists and community groups interested in engaging with our Downtown in a creative manner.
The "Dear" Family by artist Evelyn Davis was made possible through the Mini Grant program, but will be a permanent public art installation in Morgan Hill's Downtown.  This is the last piece of public art made possible through the Mini Grant program top be installed.  Look for the installation to occur some time in early December.
