New Wireless Infrastructure at Lost Pines

Our new wireless network at Lost Pines (CLICK HERE if you don't know what we're talking about) is going to help us provide an even better program for your Scouts and utility for your adult leaders. As we roll out more program-specific uses, here are a few items of note:
  • Lost Pines is being added to the Weather Underground network of live weather reporting stations. You'll be able to track live weather conditions HERE.
  • In addition, there is now a Weather Underground camera at Lost Pines (FYI, it is not in a location to show Scouts).

Help With Radio Merit Badge?

Volunteers with experience and an amateur radio license are needed to help with an introductory Radio Merit Badge program on the following evenings (7pm-9pm) at Boy Scout Summer Camp at Lost Pines:

  • June 21
  • June 28
  • July 5
  • July 12
  • July 19

New Shooting Sports Equipment

Our council's Shooting Sports Committee has secured a grant from the NRA Foundation that will provide the following new equipment for our shooting sports programs at camp:

  • 5 Ruger .22 Target Pistols
  • 9 Genesis Bow Genesis Bow, Right Handed       
  • 3 Genesis Bow Genesis Bow, Left Handed
  • 12 LAS Rolan Recurve Bows
  • 5 boxes of Easton Genesis Arrows
This equipment will be used to further the mission of teaching safe and responsible shooting sports activity. 

Time Left To Sign Up For STEAM Camp

The first session of our best-in-class STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) day camp starts tomorrow, but there is still time to sign up your 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grade Scouts for the other three sessions. Programs take place at Anderson High School's Applied Technology Center. This year's theme is life on Mars!

2017 Council Contingent Deadline Extension

Units have until June 15 to reserve space in our council's 2017 contingent to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. The contingent concept organizes travel and registration to make your Philmont trek as low-maintenance as possible.

2017 National Jamboree

The National Scout Jamboree offers such extreme activities as zip lines, mountain biking, climbing, skateboarding, and mountain boarding... all at the Summit National High Adventure Base in West Virginia. Our council will coordinate all the travel details for our Boy Scouts and Venturers who sign up, including a tour of Washington, D.C.!

Catholic Committee On Scouting Austin Dioces
Catholic Scout Day In July

The Diocese of Austin's Catholic Committee on Scouting invites youth and adults to attend the Catholic Scout Day on July 23 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church. There is a patch program for youth and adults may receive training to lead religious emblem classes.

New Staff Positions To Serve Camps

We've added new staff positions to better serve units' needs at our camping properties. 

Roy Wallace, who has been serving as Lead Ranger at Lost Pines Scout Reservation, will now serve as our council's Facilities Manager. Roy's "big picture" focus will be on the projects that are necessary to make our camps a more attractive and more enjoyable option for your camping needs. CLICK HERE for more on Roy.

PJ Brown is the new Ranger at Smilin V Scout Ranch. He'll be on property at all times to help make sure your unit's experience there is first rate. CLICK HERE for more on PJ.
