This document outlines for employers how federal employment discrimination law applies to religious dress and grooming practices in the work place and should be used as companies develop policies dealing with workplace dress. New Philadelphia Regulations Regarding Pregnant Employees
In addition, the Mayor and City Council in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, issued new regulations that require city employers to make reasonable accommodations for pregnant employees and to provide written notice to employees by displaying a new workplace poster developed by the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations (PCHR) regarding the new pregnancy accommodation requirement. Upcoming Delaware Minimum Wage Hikes
Lastly, the State of Delaware has enacted its first minimum wage hike since 2009, which is scheduled to go into effect on June 1, 2014, under legislation signed by Governor Jack Markell. The first of two increases becomes effective June 1, 2014, when the minimum wage will go up 50 cents to $7.75 per hour. One year later, on June 1, 2015, the rate will increase another 50 cents to $8.25 per hour.
According to the Delaware Department of Labor, up to 40,000 people (nearly 10% of Delaware's workers) could be affected, directly or indirectly, by this minimum wage increase.
