The Oil & Gas Industry - Implications for NC

This is a brief summary of some of the  environmental regulations associated with the oil and gas industry. We think it's a good idea to begin getting familiar with them because North Carolina appears to be near initiating oil and gas exploration and possible development. We attended the Oil & Gas Environmental Conference in Dallas in early December so we could  listen and speak with the people who are involved.

Many of the regulations that affect the oil and gas industry are the same regulations we work with on a daily basis in the Carolinas and Virginia. The charts below list some of the main regulations and compares/contrasts them.

 Hazardous Waste Management

These differences are what exist now. It is important to know that individual states can enact their own regulations, as many already have.

Next month we will look at the types of pollution sources that are known to exist at onshore fracking sites, and how these can and are being addressed.

Pyramid Completes Our First Adopt-A-Stream Cleanup!

Pyramid recently completed our first cleanup at our adopted stream in Greensboro, NC.  Our section of Ryan's Creek is located near our office in Greensboro, and we were lucky to have almost the entire staff participate in the cleanup.  It is impressive how only a few hours can make such a drastic difference in the appearance and health of a habitat so close to us.  Thanks to all of the Pyramid employees who participated, and we look forward to the next time to help!
