Constitution Day!

Join LMC in celebrating Constitution Day, Thursday, September 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. through activities and learning.  Come to the Constitution Day Festival from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon in the outdoor quad and enjoy music, giveaways and  free food. You will even be able to register to vote! Following the festival, stop by L-109 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. for two 55-minute movies, "Created Equal" and "A More Perfect Union". More about the movies

Transfer Services News

Representatives from many colleges and universities visit LMC during the year to offer individual appointments with students. Receive advice on your application and learn more about the schools you're interested in by scheduling a meeting with reps from Saint Mary's College, UC Berkeley, CSU East Bay and UC Davis this month! tutors Did you know the Center for Academic Support provides assistance with reading and writing assignments, as well as peer tutoring at both the Pittsburg and Brentwood campuses? And that reading and writing assistance is also available online? Get the help you need wherever you take your classes!

Reading & Writing Consultations
Work one-on-one with a consultant on reading and writing assignments during any phase of development, from assignment clarification to pre-writing, thesis development, organization, and more. Peer Tutoring
The Center for Academic Support offers outstanding peer tutoring, thanks to our maroon-clad tutors, aka "The Maroon Squad." Whether you are a high achiever or a struggling student, our tutors can help you meet and exceed your own expectations by offering you ways to become a self-sufficient, life-long learner. Brentwood and Pittsburg Tutoring Schedules

Tutoring is offered by appointment and drop-in.  To make an appointment, see the front desk receptionist or call (925) 473-7590.  Appointments must be made at least 24 hours in advance. To see a drop-in tutor, simply come to the Center for Academic Support during scheduled hours and check in with the front desk staff.

The Pittsburg Center for Academic Support is located in Room CO3-300 and is open at the following times:
  • Monday-Wednesday 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Thursdays 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Fridays 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Student Life Activities & Events
Join the LMC Student Government!
Los Medanos College Associated Students (LMCAS) has positions open for student government senators. Join the student government and help plan fun events, provide valuable services to students, and most importantly be the "voice" of your student body. Weekly meetings are held on Mondays from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in L-105. Applications are due on Monday, September 28 at 5:00 p.m. 
 
Inter Club Council (ICC) Meetings
ICC is the coordinating body for all clubs and organizations on campus, and meets every Monday from 3:00  to 4:00 p.m. in L-106. Each club can be represented in ICC, which promotes engagement in community college activities.
 
Blood Drive Blood Drive
Student Life and Blood Centers of the Pacific will host a  blood drive on Tuesday, November 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in L-109. For more information or to schedule your donation appointment, go to www.bloodheroes.com, click on "Donate Blood" and enter sponsor code = losMC.

The Brentwood Center for Academic Support has moved to a larger space in Room 13 and services have been reinvigorated and expanded.  The Center now offers 20 hours of tutoring a week and more reading/writing consultants are available for appointments. Drop in to the Center for tutoring or make an appointment for a one-on-one reading/writing consultation with a faculty member. The Center for Academic Support is a quiet, comfortable space where students can find collaboration and community.  Hours of services are posted outside of Room 13, as well as on the  Brentwood Center for Academic Support webpage.

The Brentwood Center for Academic Support will be hosting an open house in the near future for students to learn more about the services offered, so watch for signs!   For more information, call or stop by the Brentwood Center Office.

Expanded Counseling Services
Long waits for a counseling appointment are over!  Not only are more general counseling hours available in Brentwood, but counseling is now offered for the following special programs each week:  Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS), Veterans, Foster Youth, and Student Success Reengagement.  Please call or stop by the Brentwood Center for more information. 
 
Save Lives - Give Blood!
Brentwood Center will host a blood drive on Tuesday, October 13 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Bloodmobile parked outside the center. To make an appointment, go to  www.bloodheroes.com click "donate blood" and enter sponsor code: LMCBrentwood (case sensitive). Donors with appointments will receive priority, but walk-ins are welcome.
