Spring Gathering ~ Doors of Opportunity

Installation of officers at Spring Gathering.
What a splendid day! On April 26, 96 ladies from 22 churches, as well as 5 ministry partners, came together to enjoy the day.  Our keynote speaker, Kathy Reeves, Mission Associate from Louisville, shared a slide presentation from the PW Mission Experience to Appalachia last June, "Into These Hills."

Display boards, from  various  churches highlighted the hunger ministries in which Presbyterian Women have been participating. In recognition of this year's mission emphasis on hunger ministry, canned food items were brought for the FISH ministry that Erin works with.

The least coin offering was received and dedicated at the gathering, as well as the scholarship offering. $1668.38 was collected and awarded to seminary student Crystal Fallesen, of Rivermont.  Officers were installed for the upcoming year. Gifts were presented to several mission partners and it was a joy to have most of them represented at the gathering.

Thank you, Erin Presbyterian Church, Knoxville ~

Remembering Loretta Teter

The June 2014 issue of the PWP Newsletter begins with a remembrance of Loretta Teter, a member of Rivermont Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga and tireless volunteer, who unexpectedly passed away on May 23.

"We celebrate the life of Loretta and her service to the Lord. It is with heavy hearts that we learned of her passing. It is with joyful hearts that we remember her loving, faithful life and all of her many accomplishments. She will long be remembered, through every stitch made in a pillowcase dress or Alzheimer apron...She taught us so much about doing for the least of these, and loving and following God."

Additional information about Loretta and more PWP news are included in the PWP newsletter

First Presbyterian Church, Spring City experiences renewal
Take the seven member remnant of a divided church, add some Girl Scout ingenuity, mix in special cheers and a good dose of vuvuzelas, and what is the result?  Read the story of how First Presbyterian Church in Spring City found ways to connect with the youth of their town and experience a profound sense of renewal.

In recognition of their efforts, the church received the New Vision Banners at the May meeting of the Presbytery of East Tennessee.
The Rev. Linda Springer accepts the banners on behalf of the church from the Rev. Wendy Neff and General Presbyter Judd Shaw.
