VOTE FOR ISRAEL'S RAMON CRATER IN THE 8TH WONDER OF THE WORLD COMPETITION THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30 

Israel's Ramon Crater, the largest geological crater in the world, is currently ranked among the top 350 candidates in the 8th Wonder of the World online contest, taking place now through September 30. TEL AVIV PORT UNVEILS NEW "SPACE MANIA" EXHIBITION FEATURING METEORITE FRAGMENTS

A new exhibition showcasing fragments of several different meteorites, entitled "Space Mania," is open at Hangar 11 in the Tel Aviv Port now through September 28. The exhibition features a collection of meteorite fragments, including tiny pieces from a meteorite from Mars, a 1,600-pound fragment of a pallasite meteorite recently discovered in the Russian city of Chelyabinsk and a lunar meteorite that broke off the moon's surface. The exhibition also includes a "space food" display, a replica of the Russian space station Mir's command module and tribute to Ilan Ramon, the first Israeli astronaut. www.spacemania.co.il/en

TEL AVIV CROSSTOWN BIKE RIDE, SEPTEMBER 25

Travelers and locals alike will gather in Tel Aviv for the city's annual crosstown bike ride, September 25. Beginning in Hayarkon Park and ending at Rabin Square, the event will include several of the city's main avenues closed off from traffic, and feature outdoor music performances, family-friendly activities and a spinning marathon. www.sovevtlv.org.il#sthash.rtruotsd.dpuf

ISRAEL MUSEUM IN JERUSALEM TO RECEIVE NEW COLLECTION OF WORKS BY AMERICAN PHOTOGRAPHER RICHARD AVEDON

Jerusalem's Israel Museum will soon receive a collection of 74 photographs and artworks by legendary American photographer Richard Avedon. Donated by a trio of donors including Leonard Lauder, the collection of photographs were taken by Avedon between 1969 and 1976, and feature early images of iconic American artists Andy Warhol and Allen Ginsburg, among others. www.imj.org.il

ANCIENT INSCRIPTIONS DISCOVERED DURING EXCAVATIONS IN JERUSALEM'S CITY OF DAVID 

A ceramic bowl bearing an ancient Hebrew inscription was recently discovered during excavations by the Israel Antiquities Authority in Jerusalem's City of David. The inscription, which was discovered alongside thousands of broken pottery shards, clay lamps and figurines, is believed to bear the name of a seventh-century BCE figure referred to in the Old Testament.

"WIKI LOVES MONUMENTS ISRAEL" PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST, SEPTEMBER 15 - OCTOBER 15, 2013

Amateur and professional travel photographers from around the world will have the chance to take part in "Wiki Loves Monuments Israel," a new photography contest initiated by Wikimedia Israel. Photographers can submit images of historic monuments in Israel from September 15 - October 15, 2013 for a chance to win one of three cash prizes and a feature in an upcoming photography exhibition in Tel Aviv. www.wlm.org.il

MODI'IN INTERNATIONAL CIRCUS FESTIVAL THIS OCTOBER

The second annual Modi'in International Circus Festival will feature a weekend of circus, acrobat, juggling and theater performances in various venues in Modi'in, mid-way between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, October 2-4. The festival will include "Gravita" and "Alice in Wonderland" performed by Circus Y and "Circus Light and Darkness," an interactive theater production by the Pyromania Group, among other performances.

ISRAEL'S FIRST-EVER INTERACTIVE WATER FOUNTAIN UNVEILED IN NETANYA 

Israel's first interactive water fountain opened last month in the seaside city of Netanya. The new fountain is located in the city's Independence Square overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, and includes a multi-sensory sound and light show boasting LED screens, fountains and advanced water systems, as well as a spectacular multimedia performance every evening. 

SUCCOT EVENTS AT AMMUNITION SQUARE IN JERUSALEM THIS OCTOBER

Jerusalem's historic Ammunition Square will host a selection of family-friendly events this month in celebration of Sukkot. Among the activities include a zip-line, bungee swing and rope ladder; an arts and crafts sukkah for children; and a photography exhibition featuring the works of Israeli photographer Eliad Yahalom, entitled "Jerusalem - To and From You." www.g-h.org.il/en/

NEW EXHIBITION SHOWCASING ORNATE BRIDAL GOWNS OPENS IN BEIT HATFUTSOT MUSEUM IN JERUSALEM

A new exhibition showcasing a collection of contemporary wedding gowns inspired by Jewish communities around the world will be on display at the Beit Hatfutsot Museum in Jerusalem, September 18 through February 2014. The exhibition boasts 13 different wedding gowns with handmade embroidery created by recent graduates from Israel's Shenkar School of Art alongside preliminary sketches of each piece. www.bh.org.il

SPANISH SINGER JULIO IGLESIAS PERFORMS IN CAESAREA

Platinum record-selling Spanish singer Julio Iglesias returned to Israel last month for a performance at the Caesarea Amphitheater and visited attractions throughout Israel, where he is pictured, at left, alongside Itai Eliaz, General Manager, Dan Tel Aviv hotel. The concert precedes performances by Rihanna and Tom Jones in Israel this October.
