Chris' Monday Morning Wake-Up Call has as its only purpose to help you learn, grow and get results.
Being Exceptional: It's All About "The How" and "The Why"

Far too often, many find it easier to seek cover under the umbrella of average, just doing enough to get by. Some do this because they think it might be too hard to do better or they're not sure how and where to start. Others are just lazy and feel that they'll do what they want. Yet while they seek out their independence, they also like to complain about their life and what is lacking in it. To this latter group, I say, "Give me a break." That's an excuse pure and simple. Use the skills you have to their fullest capability or acquire the skills needed to grow-these should be your only choices.
If you look at why some succeed or others do not, it becomes clear that those who understand "the how" and "the why" of what they and their organizations do have the edge.
Once you're clear on the "how and why" adopt - or better yet, "work" - these 6 changes in your current mindset:
  1. You recognize that you alone are responsible for your life, career and future and that you can create situations where you are the master of your circumstances and not a victim.
  2. You know that you can have more, but also recognize that you must work for it and earn it. Vince Lombardi once said, "The dictionary is the only place where success comes before work."
  3. You recognize that you must regularly question the "status quo" and be open to finding or creating new opportunities.
  4. You recognize that your habits define you. As such, you're always looking for ways to enhance existing habits and learn new ones to help you elevate your game.
  5. You consistently live your life and demonstrate your full capabilities with "quiet confidence"-that is, there is no need to talk about what you do or how well you do it; your actions are all that others need to see.
  6. You are willing to confront fear and take risks to move forward. Nothing will come to you unless you act first and that's where taking risks enters the picture. Remember, a turtle moves forward by learning to stick out his neck.
Your Monday Morning Wake-Up Thought

"Being exceptional or doing and being your best on a consistent basis is far closer to reality for many of us. Yet many see it as unattainable and give up at the first sign that hard work is required. Never give up on yourself.
