Chris' Monday Morning Wake-Up Call has as its only purpose to help you learn, grow and get results.

The Choice You Should Make Every Day

At the beginning of every day, each one of us must make a choice. The choice is simple: will you strive to be a master of your circumstances for that day or allow yourself to be victimized by them. While the choice is simple, the impact of it can be significant. And, if you don't make the choice, the day defaults to the victim status.

Unfortunately, many of you don't think about this choice, jump right into your day and end up the victim. As I mentioned, it's a simple choice and really doesn't take a great deal of time to consider it-maybe 15 minutes.

So, what are the characteristics of a person who "works" at being a master of their circumstances? Consider the following:

  • Is an individual who "owns" the first 15 minutes of every day to identify the priorities and desired outcomes.
  • Is an individual who is capable of working independently when needed.
  • Is confident in their abilities to properly evaluate a situation, develop a plan and make a decision to act on it.
  • Is committed to ongoing self-improvement to expand their capabilities and increase the value they offer.
  • Chooses to be around (and learn from) others who are also masters of their circumstances.

Conversely, the characteristics of a person who "works" at being a victim of their circumstances:

  • Usually "wings" it through each day.
  • Lacks self-confidence and internal courage to take a risk and act.
  • Is unable to say "no" to those who are trying to influence them and keep them a victim.
  • Huddles with other victims who reinforce their victim mentality: "it's not your fault".
  • Is willing to compromise on an issue because they believe it's the easiest way to avoid solving the problem.

How would you describe yourself: master or victim? Choose wisely.

Your Monday Morning Wake-Up Quote

"Making one choice at the beginning of each day - to be the master of the days' circumstances - is a "no-brainer" when you consider the impact that choice will have on your outcomes, self-confidence and self-esteem.
