Southside Middle students learned important workforce skills during JA Job Shadow at AT&Tatt

The JA Job Shadow at AT&T introduced 25 students from Southside Middle School to what it's like to work in the "real world."

AT&T employees stressed the importance of getting a degree, making the right choices and surrounding yourself with the right people.

Southside Middle is a Title I school with students at-risk of dropping out.

"This group of students are free/reduced lunch and have poor attendance issues," said Southside Middle School counselor, Tiera Thomas.

"I truly enjoyed taking the kids out of their element and exposing them to something new. They have received information on career opportunities offered at AT&T. They have heard that goals must be set, education must be taken serious, and always dream BIG."

It's HER Business is a one-day conference that pairs women mentors with girls ages 15-18 enrolled in high school to encourage financial literacy and help girls learn about starting businesses and managing personal finances.

Using Junior Achievement's It's My Future program, the girls explored the importance of building a positive personal brand for the future.
