Welcome New Volunteers

On Monday, April 28, we were thrilled to have Commissioner Terry Wiese of the St. Louis County Family Court swear in eleven new CASA advocates. Thank you all for your commitment to speaking up for our children in foster care.

More training classes are forming now! There are approximately 1,000 St. Louis children in foster care waiting for a CASA volunteer. No specific experience or education is required to serve as a CASA advocate - just a desire to help and a willingness to speak up for a child!

Visit How to Get Started or contact Kelly Edwards (314.615.4594 or [email protected]) for information about becoming a CASA volunteer and to reserve a spot at our upcoming information session on May 15.

Be the Difference Benefit

On April 10, Voices' annual Be the Difference Benefit drew a crowd of nearly 300 guests and raised over $255,000 in support of Voices' advocacy services. The event featured special guest Shelby Ringdahl, Miss Missouri 2013, who has been raising awareness for CASA programs as her personal platform after learning about CASA through her philanthropic work in Kappa Alpha Theta.

Don Danforth III was presented with Voices' 2014 Community Superhero Award for his efforts to improve the lives of underprivileged St. Louis children through his work with Mathews-Dickey and founding City Academy. "We opened City Academy with the belief that children can overcome barriers with determination, hard work, and a support system of educators and advocates with bold expectations," Danforth said, upon receiving the award.

Special thanks to co-chairs Kerrin Kowach and Brian Ungles, presenting sponsor Centene Charitable Foundation, and MC Susan Solovic.

Operation Bunny Hop Operation Bunny Hop Logo

On Friday, April 11, the Gateway Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators held their 17th Annual Operation Bunny Hop. Local administrators gathered at the offices of Sandberg, Phoenix & von Gontard and stuffed a total of 2,500 baskets with candy and small toys for underprivileged children across the St. Louis area. We are so grateful for the ALA's annual partnership providing these special treats for our kids!
