Greetings,
One of the great benefits of my role in Alumni Affairs at BUSM is hearing about the work alumni are doing and sharing their stories to inspire reflections on-and conversations about-issues in health care and medical education. This is especially true this time of year.
The spring brings much energy to the medical school. The Class of 2015 experienced the annual rite of passage on Match Day which for some is more life changing than the walk across the stage at Commencement.
Students mark the end of their first year with an emotional and meaningful Anatomy Memorial Service to honor their anatomy donors and families of the donors. They have an opportunity to showcase and share their summer research projects as a part of the Medical Student Summer Research Program.
To help ease stress of studies, students find creative outlets in sports, music and art. You can see some of the creative works in their recently published Whorl Magazine.
This May marked a personal milestone--my 25th reunion from BUSM. Many alumni gathered in the city and on campus for variety of Alumni Weekend festivities, but reconnecting with my own classmates was most meaningful.
We were honored to have Christine Hunter '80 present Grand Rounds, and it was a pleasure to recognize Dr. Sophia Dyer '93 with the 2015 Distinguished Alumna Award for her extraordinary career in Emergency Medicine.
BUSM continues to thrive and flourish. We are grateful for your interest and support. And as always, our door is open. Please come by and say hello.
