Weekly Update
Paving work begins August 17
 
Paving will begin Monday, August 17, on several major county roads. Roads will remain open, but may be limited to one-way traffic controlled by flaggers. Expect up to 15-minute delays. Use alternate routes when possible. 
 
The following roads are scheduled for nighttime paving from 8 p.m.-6 a.m. Monday-Friday, August 17-21:
  • 170th Avenue - Blanton Street to Tualatin-Valley Highway
  • 185th Avenue - Shaw Street to Tualatin-Valley Highway
  • 185th Avenue - Tualatin-Valley Highway to Alexander Street
Roads scheduled for daytime paving this fiscal year (through June 30, 2016) include:
  • 119th Avenue - Cornell Road to McDaniel Road
  • 170th Avenue - Rigert Road to Blanton Street
  • 175th Avenue - Scholls Ferry Road to Kemmer Road
  • 185th Avenue - Bridge over Beaverton Creek at Pheasant Lane
  • Bald Peak Road - Laurelwood Road to Orchaedia Drive
  • Fern Hill Road - Blooming Fern Hill Road to Highway 47
  • Glencoe Road - West Union Road to North Avenue
  • Grabhorn Road - Tile Flat Road to Stonecreek Drive
  • Kaiser Road - Thompson Road to Purvis Drive
  • Kemmer Road - 170th Avenue to Mayberry Place
  • Kinnaman Road - Farmington Road to 185th Avenue
  • McCormick Hill Road - Laurel Road to Vanderschuere Road
  • Miller Hill Road - Gassner Road to Farmington Road
  • Rigert Road - 185th Avenue to 160th Avenue
  • Steppingstone Drive - 185th Avenue to Baseline Road
  • Tile Flat Road - Scholls Ferry Road to Grabhorn Road

Metro is asking residents to take a two-minute, five-question poll regarding its 2018 Regional Transportation Plan. The goal of the plan is to provide safe and reliable transportation choices that connect residents and visitors to jobs, schools, families, parks, and more. County road crews completed the summer chip sealing program on schedule, and road striping will be completed soon. Provide feedback on the process by taking this survey.

There are road maintenance and construction projects happening throughout the county. Be sure to check www.wc-roads.com for the most current roadwork information. All paving work is weather-dependent and schedules may be adjusted due to changes in the weather or for other unforeseen circumstances.

Construction on Cornelius Pass Road may cause delays 

Cornelius Pass Road between Cornell Road and U.S. Hwy 26, is under construction. Travelers are encouraged to use Brookwood Parkway or 185th Avenue. Cornelius Pass is being widened to include three lanes in each direction, a center median and dedicated turn lanes at several intersections, including Hwy 26. The project is expected to be completed by late 2016.    Project website  Media Release

49th Avenue to re-open no later than August 17 

August 17 is the projected date for the re-opening of 49th Avenue at Baseline Road.  The road has been closed to all traffic due to grading work on Baseline. Travelers are being detoured to 53rd Avenue. The construction schedule is tentative; subject to change.   Project website

Helvetia Road expected to re-open August 17  

Helvetia Road is closed to all traffic between Jacobson and Schaaf roads for replacement of a culvert at Waible Creek. Traffic is being detoured on Jacobson Road to Cornelius Pass and West Union roads. The work is part of the Groveland Drive Realignment Project. The road is expected to re-open on August 17 - one day later than originally scheduled (tentative; subject to change).   Project website

Bates Road closed for all of August   

Bates Road, between Patton Valley Road and Old Highway 47, will be closed for installation of a water line for the entire month of August. Traffic will be detoured via Old Highway 47.    Hillsboro Water Closure Notification Letter

Menlo Road and 2nd Street closed at Farmington

Access to Menlo Road and 2nd Street is closed at Farmington Road through Sept. 4 for for replacement of a culvert at Erickson Creek, as part of the Farmington Road project.   Farmington Road Project  

Beaverton; District 1

 

August railroad crossing repairs to result in 72-hour closure on Tualatin-Sherwood Road

Repairs to the Portland and Western Railroad crossing on Tualatin-Sherwood Road, located between Gerda Lane and Oregon Street, will result in a 72-hour closure of the road starting at about 7 p.m. Friday, August 21 (tentative; subject to change). Further details will be forthcoming. Staff is developing a communication outreach plan to provide substantial advance notice of the planned closure and detour routes.   Tualatin-Sherwood Railroad Crossing  Media Release 

CPO 5; District 3  

 

Baseline Road Project - speed limit reduced to 30 mph

This project will widen Baseline Road to five vehicle lanes with continuous bike lanes and sidewalks between Brookwood Parkway and 231st Avenue. For the safety of the workers and travelers in the project zones, the speed limit has been temporarily reduced to 30 mph. Anticipate lane closures and delays between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on weekdays.   Project Website

ODOT ongoing roadwork projects:

Paving work continues on First Avenue in Hillsboro
First Avenue, Hillsboro, will be closed to all traffic between Oak and Walnut streets from 7 p.m.-7 a.m. Monday-Friday through August 21, for paving.  From 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday, traffic on First Avenue will be down to one lane in each direction between Oak and Walnut streets.  Flaggers will direct traffic through the intersection of First Avenue and Walnut Street, as the traffic signal will not be operational.   ODOT's Project Website

Neighborhood Meetings for Proposed Developments:

NOTE: This information is provided as a courtesy only. Developers are required to hold Neighborhood Meetings prior to submitting certain land use applications. A developer may also choose to hold such a meeting voluntarily if it is not required by county code. These meetings are intended to serve as a forum for the developer, affected CPOs, and property owners within the required notification buffer (500 feet in urban areas; 1,000 feet in rural areas) to discuss the proposal prior to the developer submitting an application to the county. County staff do not schedule these meetings and do not attend them. For more information, you can visit our Neighborhood Meeting page.  

August 17 - Planned Development designation removal     

6:30 p.m. at 11275 NW Leahy Road. Owners of two properties at 11275 NW Leahy Road and 515 NW 112th Avenue are requesting the removal of the Planned Development designation to eliminate shared open space.  The subject properties are 0.43 acre in the R-5 district (Residential 4-5 units per acre).
