Swearing-in of recruits
Cermonial swearing in of recruits at Clermont County Fair 7.20.14

Young recruits, above, from Clermont County had a ceremonial swearing-in during Preview Day at the Clermont County Fair. The swearing-in capped off a military tribute hosted by Commissioner Bob Proud at the July 20 event. At left, retired Marine Col. Danny Bubp, center, greets Joe Golfman, a World War II technical sergeant who served with Gen. George Patton. Golfman and Sgt. 1st Class Joe Shoemake, right, led the Pledge of Allegiance at the event. Bupb swore in the recruits.
June was a record month for permits

June was a very busy month for the Building Inspection Department.  The department processed 588 permits during June, which is a record high for any month over the last 10 years. The second highest month was in May 2013 with a total of 553 permits. While single-family home permits are down from previous years, alteration permits are up. In 2014 to date, Building Department staff processed 3,941 permits.

Thanks to all the staff for making the month of June a record month!

Mapping the county point by point

Did you know that Clermont County has 398 miles of county roads and 259 miles of private roads? That it has 58,296 single-family homes and 11,343 apartments? And that 5,599 addresses do not have a posted house number?

These are among the fascinating facts that crews from Digital Data Technologies Inc. found out when they physically verified and mapped every point of geographic data in Clermont County last winter. The result is a more precise and comprehensive dataset of information that will ultimately help in faster and more accurate 911 response. To find out more about this project, click here
