NC Governor Signs Bill Increasing Access to CTE
In February, North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory signed his first bill as Governor increasing student access to CTE education. The bill will create a system where students will earn a diploma signifying that they are ready for college, a career or both. In addition, high schools and community colleges are being encouraged to share teachers, equipment, and internship opportunities. It's all great news for students and CTE in North Carolina.

In Texas, a New House Bill Proposes Creating a HS Diploma focused on CTE
If a new bill (SB 3) gets passed into law, high school students in Texas will have a choice of following a path to a general diploma or one focused on CTE. This proposed legislation is similar to the newly passed law in North Carolina, and also allows students to earn endorsements in business, humanities, and STEM.
