Maguire Maps Out BIG Plans For Playa Vista Project

Maguire Investments has obtained a $105 million loan for the recapitalization of Water's Edge, a 6.5-acre amenity rich, creative office campus in Playa Vista.  The project's flagship LA Fitness will have full court basketball, sand volleyball and an outdoor swimming pool opening Summer 2013.  Story HERE

 Tishman Said to Market Campus at Playa Vista
Tishman Speyer Properties LP, owner of New York's Rockefeller Center, is seeking a buyer for its Campus at Playa Vista. The property will probably fetch more than $200 million, as offers for the four-story buildings, which have an occupancy rate of 97% - current tenants include Facebook Inc. and USC Institute for Creative Technologies.  Story HERE


Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac to offer streamlined loan modifications
In a push to simplify loan modifications, many borrowers who become 90 days or more past due on mortgages backed by Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae will be offered lowered payments without having to prove hardship, the federal regulator of the home-finance giants said.

The streamlined modification program, to be put into effect in July, would reduce monthly payments by about 30% on average, officials said in announcing the program this week. Story HERE

WPV announced receipt of  grants which help WPV continue to grow the "village movement" of neighbors helping neighbors and by supporting older adults so that they may remain active and independent in their own homes and neighborhoods for as long as possible.  Story HERE

Tucked inside what was once a 60-year-old liquor store, owners Marissa Mandel and Lauren Johnson have assembled rows of craft spirits, aperitifs and other cocktails accessories you'll recognize from the city's top drink lists.  They hope to have their tasting bar, fashioned from a long plank of driftwood, running in a few weeks.

Easter Is Coming; So Why Does It Keep Moving?

It's so easy to plan for Christmas, New Year's Day and the Fourth of July; they always come on the same date every year.  This year, Christians around the world will celebrate Easter Sunday on March 31, but, it's not always March 31.  In fact, it can be as early as March 22, or, as late as April 25 - a difference of 35 days.  So, why does the Easter Bunny hop in at different dates every year just to confuse you?  The short answer is:  blame it on the moon.  There is a simple formula to determine when Easter falls on:  It is always the first Sunday after the first full moon (known as the paschal moon) after the vernal equinox.
