Hop, walk, and run - Hartsville just can't seem to sit still lately!

First, hop on over to the Pee Dee Coalition's FREE Easter celebration this Friday to get your weekend fill of family-friendly fun. The snacks, face-painting, and egg hunting should be enough motivation to get you moving, shouldn't it?

Then, get your walking shoes on. The Born Learning Trail is being unveiled soon at Byerly Park. This joint venture from the United Way of Hartsville and Darlington County First Steps is poised to provide a fun way to develop young children's five key developmental areas: communication, cognition, physical development, social/emotional development, and self-help skills. Enjoy the lovely park while helping a child in your life to develop these critical skills to prepare them for school.

Don't un-lace yet, though! The first weekend in May is loaded with community walks and relays. Nucor Steel and Vulcraft are hosting the 'Petal to the Metal' 5k walk to benefit Lee State Park at 8am on May 3. If your first 5k isn't enough (or if you slept in), head on over to the Darlington Racetrack at 10 to participate in the Free Medical Clinic's 10th annual 'Walk with the Docs'to support the clinic's efforts to keep our community healthy and strong.

Now that all that hopping and walking has you warmed up - are you ready to run? Don't worry, it's for a good cause! The American Cancer Society is holding a Relay for Life event May 2-3 to celebrate cancer survivors and to raise money for cancer research. This incredible event allows participants to stay at the track overnight, taking turns with their teammates walking around the track. No actual running is required!

This week's poll: Whew! That was an action-packed intro. At least now you can relax, right? Wait! Did you do your taxes yet? Click Here
