Chamber Connection
"April 1st: This is the day upon which we are reminded of what we are on the other
three hundred and sixty-four." - Mark Twain

April 1, 2014

Today is April Fool's Day - honest! You've survived the morning, hopefully un-fooled. So how are you going to survive the rest of this foolish holiday? Can anybody be trusted? To whom can you turn?

The Chamber of Commerce, of course! Trust is an important factor in the world of business, and the Chamber is here to back you up. Our membership consists of trusted members of the Hartsville community, and we work hard to ensure that any business that counts itself as a Chamber member is a business you can rely on. This benefit of membership does double duty - not only does it show potential customers that your operations are legitimate, it also encourages folks to shop local - no foolin'!

Another straight-shootin' source of local information is Good Morning Hartsville on 97.5 WHEZ; a new regular feature in our newsletter. See the announcements section at the bottom of your page to learn about this week's guests, and be sure to tune in every Wednesday at 8am. This charming program will keep you up to date on what's happening in town; what better way to ward off tricksters than to be well-informed?

If you do find yourself on the wrong end of a prank or joke, use the following excuse: I wasn't paying attention because I was too excited about all the events in Hartsville this weekend! Kalmia Gardens is hosting their annual Earth Day Celebration and Duck Cup Race, while the YMCA and Carolina Family Planning are putting on yard sales. It's such a busy day, who can blame you for being distracted?

Or perhaps lending your hearts and hands to Hands on Hartsville is what has you so preoccupied.   No? Well there's still time to sign up and contribute before this Saturday - see the Hands on Hartsville segment of the newsletter for more information.

Finally, be sure to read up about the Chamber's new member, New Vision Community Development Corporation. This exciting organization is poised to be a dynamic force for good in the community, and they are inviting the public to visit their operations and volunteer. No trick, joke, or gag in this paragraph - just a hard-working group of dedicated Hartsville citizens whom we're thrilled to welcome to Chamber membership.
