"Winter is a season of recovery and preparation" - Paul Theroux

March 4, 2014
Can you feel it in the air? Are you ready? The plants are budding, the precious moments of sunlight are getting longer; Spring is coming! You know what that means, don't you? The Taste of Hartsville is right around the corner, May 1. Be on the lookout for updates regarding Hartsville's most anticipated spring event; an evening in Burry Park full of tasty food and beverages prepared by your local food connoisseurs!

Also coming to you strong, powerful women this spring is the Women in Business Seminar, scheduled for March 26. Mark your calendars now and reserve your seat for this year's seminar highlighting preventive maintenance for every aspect of your life. We will be exploring tips for maintaining wellness, appearance, business skills, legal documents and even your vehicle!

Even though we know you will not need an excuse to get outside this Spring, we have a really good one for you. Saturday, April 5 is the community-wide service day brought to you by Hands on Hartsville. Calling all hands and all hearts for one Hartsville! The Hands on Hartsville project is a project with a mission to bring youth and adult leaders together in support of our precious non-profits, who give so much and receive so little. See the spotlight section below for details on how you can contribute to strengthening four of our local service organizations.

Finally, and by no means leastly, welcome new Chamber member, Lulu's Clothing Boutique! We are so happy to have you on board! Thank you for investing in your community through Chamber membership.

  Coker Enactus

This conference was developed out of the experiences of several Enactus students. After Matt Kreider, a Coker Enactus member, participated in an internship with the Darlington Country Police Department, he learned of the struggles that local law enforcement, fire fighters, and EMS experience because of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Realizing that veterans are not the only people who experience this disorder, Matt was inspired to make a difference for the people that protect us at home and over seas.

Observing the large impact that this disorder has on all types of people, Coker Enactus decided to create a PTSD Conference to help any and all types of victims. This PTSD Conference is a great way to continue to address the problems found within our community.

Who: Coker College Enactus
What: A Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Conference
When: March 8, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
