"You have not lived today until you have done something
for someone who can never repay you."
~John Bunyan
January 28, 2014
You've seen it on the news. You've seen it on Facebook. You're hearing about it on the streets. Snow and ice are coming!!! One thing we know for sure is, it is going to be cold, cold, cold this week. We have been celebrating the giving nature of our Hartsville community and know that this potential storm will not break us. Second Baptist Church in partnership with the Hartsville community, has opened a Homeless Shelter at 212 Washington Street. Anyone in need of a warm place to stay can check-in to the shelter, immediately if the need is there. Please pass on the word so everyone knows. Our very own Police Department has equipped the shelter with cots and sleeping bags. Church members are preparing warm food. If you are able and willing to contribute, the shelter is seeking meat, sugar, and other food; bed sheets and pillowcases; coats, gloves, hats, shoes, sweaters and other warm clothing. Donations can be made directly to 212 Washington Street and you can call 332-5001 for more information. If you see someone homeless in the cold, please take the time to direct them to the shelter.
The evening we have all been waiting for is almost here! Dancing with the Stars of Darlington County to benefit the Pee Dee Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Assault is Thursday, January 30 at the Center Theatre. If you haven't already gotten your general admission tickets, you better move fast because they are almost sold out. Tickets are being sold at Burry Bookstore and Carolina Bank.
