Brrrrrrrr! It's February. Despite the cold and snow, the Chamber is warm with activity! As I write this, just this morning, we had a wonderful networking event at Roast Coffee and Tea Trading Company. A big "thank you" to Roast for providing all who came with a 20 percent discount on all purchases.
This month, we are very excited about a special promotion that allows everyone to try one of the many great new restaurants in town (or visit an old favorite), while also helping the needy of our community. Available now on the Chamber website is a special Patchogue Restaurant Coupon. The way it works is that you purchase the coupon for $10 and receive a $20 discount on your final bill of $40 or more at participating restaurants, with 50 percent of the proceeds directed to local houses of worship that provide assistance to the needy. Purchase your coupon today!
February also features a few Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies that you are all invited to attend! First, on Friday, February 13 we welcome new Chamber Member Fathom Clothing. Currently an internet-based business, they will hold a Ribbon Cutting Celebration upstairs at the Brickhouse Brewery, 5-7 p.m., followed by an evening-long party of great local live music and some specialty crafts for sale. Then, on the following Friday, February 20, we welcome Jon Michele Hair Designs to their new location at 22 West Main Street rear suite #15 with a reception and Ribbon Cutting, 4-6 p.m. This will be followed by the Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Edward Jones Financial Services on Thursday, February 26, 3-6 p.m. Please join me at these events to support your fellow members on their special occasions.
This month also features the start of our community-wide St. Patrick's celebrations. Sponsored by our Foundation's Cultural Heritage Committee, we kick things off with the Annual Passing of the Sash on Sunday, February 22, starting at 1 p.m.. This year, we are proud to introduce Peter and Ann Marie Sarich as our Grand Marshals. This event will also feature wonderful food and drink specials, great live Irish music and an Irish Soda Bread Contest between many of our fine local restaurants. The annual St. Patrick's Parade will take place on Sunday, March 22, led by the annual running of the May the Road Rise to Meet Ye 5K at 10:55 a.m. All these activities are supported by those who advertise in the yearly publication The St. PATchogue Wit & Wisdom. Included in this newsletter is an application to be part of the Wit & Wisdom, as well as information on all our St. Patrick's activities. Please support these efforts by taking an ad in this year's publication.
And, please don't forget to attend our monthly General Membership Meeting (click to RSVP) on Tuesday, February 24. Since last month's meeting was postponed due our most recent "epic" storm, we will once again attempt to hold our meeting at Ristegio's. Our guest speakers will be the new Brookhaven Town Councilman from our district, Neil Foley, as well as representatives from member PRMG with some valuable public relations and marketing tips.
Once again, we are providing you with a very active month to make the most of your Chamber membership. Please do all you can to join us this February... just make sure you have your snow boots nearby.
Sincerely,
David Kennedy
Executive Director
