Executive Director's Message

Hello All,

Spring has finally sprung and, certainly, activities with the Chamber are heating up. But first, we have some leftover business from last month.

April Fools!! It's still St. Patrick's Day in Patchogue! And this is no joke. Due to dreary weather conditions, our St. Patrick's Events scheduled for March 30 will now take place this Sunday, April 6. Regardless the date, it still will be a grand day! Please take note of all the details included in the newsletter and enjoy a "wee" limerick we have provided from the Cultural Heritage Committee Chairman, Tom Keegan, that will keep your Irish eyes smiling.

Before our Parade, we are co-sponsoring a Blood Drive with the Patchogue-Medford Library today (April 3) from 2-6:30 p.m. It's not too late to donate, so get down to the Library if you can.

Also, later tonight (April 3) we are holding a Ribbon Cutting Event for the new location of our newest Chamber Member, Sonoma Grill, located at 1730 North Ocean Avenue, 5-7 p.m. Please join us as we welcome them to our Chamber.

On Wednesday, April 9, our Chamber will be joining our fellow Chambers across Brookhaven Town for the Annual Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce Coalition Awards Dinner, 6-9 p.m. at Windows on the Lake in Ronkonkoma. More information is included in this newsletter.

Later this month, on Tuesday, April 22, 6 PM, at the Patchogue Medford Library will be our next General Membership Meeting. I thank everyone who came to last month's meeting where we had Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone give a very informative update on recent County initiatives. This month we are proud to have fellow members Robert Springer and Chris Lynch of Computer Logic give a presentation on the importance of protecting and backing up your computer programs and data.

Next on our agenda is one of our most important and anticipated yearly events, the Eloise Staudinger Beautification Fundraiser. It takes place Wednesday, April 23, aboard the Barefoot Princess at the Harbor Crab Restaurant. There is a luncheon and a dinner associated with this event, so you have an ample opportunity to participate. Check the flyer below for more information.

Now's the time to shake the winter blues, get out of the house and come to the greater Patchogue area and enjoy all the great shopping, dining and entertainment provided by you and your fellow Chamber members. I look forward to seeing you around town.

Sincerely,

David Kennedy

Ribbon Cutting: SaluMed Pharmacy

Congratulations to SaluMed Pharmacy,
located at 176 West Main Street, Patchogue
on their Grand Opening.

On Saturday, March 8, the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for SaluMed Pharmacy. Owned by Tomas Diaz, SaluMed Pharmacy is an old-fashioned style pharmacy that sells a little bit of everything and can make deliveries.

Networking Event: Rudi's Bar & Grill

In honor and celebration of our Route 112/Medford Avenue Members, the latest event was held at Rudi's Bar & Grill.

Many Chamber members gathered at Rudi's
located at 554 Rt. 112 (Patchogue), to network on March 19.

April's networking event is the Brookhaven Chambers of Commerce Coalition dinner at Windows on the Lake in Ronkonkoma.

Membership Meeting:
Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone

County Executive Bellone informs Chamber members of upcoming County initiatives.

The next membership meeting is on Tuesday, April 22 at the Patchogue-Medford Library.
 Jelly Bean Contest

Now until April 20, the Business Promotion Committee is holding our Annual Jelly Bean Contest.

While shopping in Patchogue, please visit one of the participating stores and take a guess at the number of Jelly Beans in the Jar. Multiple jars are placed around Patchogue, one in each participating store. Guess closest to the number of Jelly Beans to win a prize from that store, as well as be entered in our Grand Prize Drawing for $100.
