Executive Director's Message
Hello fellow members,
Welcome to February! I hope you all are surviving the cold and the snow. With that in mind, I remind all our business owners to please make sure the walkways in and around your businesses are cleared of snow and help continue to make the Greater Patchogue area a walkable community.
Though the weather is doing its best to slow us down, I am happy to report the Chamber keeps plowing ahead. We held our first Membership Meeting of the Year recently, and the first under a new format. We thank guest speaker Pete Roe for his very informative presentation on Business Succession Planning, as well as special guest Stephan Beaumont and colleagues of Red Vault Productions regarding a very intriguing Patchogue Commercial concept. Thanks go to Chamber Director Marc Parente of Nationwide Insurance for organizing our Membership Meetings.
This month our Membership Meeting will be Tuesday, February 25, 6 PM, at the Patchogue-Medford Library Meeting Room. Guest speaker will be member Robert Sick, CPA, PLLC, who will give a presentation called "Financial Literacy for Business Owners." Robert has been giving this presentation to business organizations across Long Island and we are excited to have him bring it to our Chamber. The presentation focuses on how to best read your businesses financial reports, including reading "between the lines" to gather information that will vastly improve your business operations. Make the most of your membership and attend the monthly Membership Meetings. Contact me if you are interested in being a guest speaker at a future meeting.
On a final note, you may be aware that the Village of Patchogue is considering legislation to handle the growing number of Sandwich Board signs along our Business District. The Village will hold a public hearing on this topic Monday, February 10, 6 PM at Patchogue Village Hall (14 Baker St, Patchogue.) I encourage anyone with thoughts, concerns or opinions on this issue to attend this important hearing. The Village also encourages anyone to please provide written comments to the above address so they can be included in the official public record and be part of the deliberations as they make a final determination.
So while the weather remains harsh, the Chamber continues to keep warm in activity and excitement. Join in and get out of the cold!
Sincerely,
David Kennedy
Executive Director
