Greetings!
President's Message

Dear Members,

I would like to start out by giving a big thank you to the Installation Dinner Committee for their hard work on the 90th Annual Installation Dinner at Sunset Harbour honoring our waterfront businesses. The committee put together some nostalgic "yearbooks" celebrating our 90 years that were fantastic. It was great to reminisce over old photos and see the progress Patchogue has made. It was a wonderful night!

The Business Promotion Committee has outdone themselves yet again with the First Annual Fall Festival on October 26th complete with a farmers market, an adorable petting zoo, vendors,  activities for the kids, roasted corn provided by ShopRite of Patchogue and so much more. It was a huge success! Congratulations to the winners of the Chili and Chowder Cook-off PeraBell Food Bar for best chili and Mediterranean Manor for chowder!

With the holidays fast approaching this year, the Chamber is busy preparing for the season. As many members already know, Small Business Saturday® is an event created by American Express® to help promote the 'Shop Local' initiative. The Greater Patchogue and Bellport Chambers are teaming up to promote Small Business Saturday® and get the word out to shoppers to discover our communities and the many amazing retail, service and restaurant businesses we have to offer. Starting at noon on November 30th both Patchogue and Bellport will have a trolley service to shuttle shoppers to both downtowns to shop, eat and enjoy!

A Small Business Shopping Guide will be distributed to visitors beginning that Saturday and throughout the holidays to promote our sponsors, this could include just a basic advertisement or even a coupon to entice gift buyers. We will be heavily promoting this day utilizing local and social media outlets. Our Platinum and Gold sponsors will be spotlighted on Facebook with photos and a description of services to further promote their businesses. Small Business Saturday® isn't limited to sponsors only, we are encouraging all local businesses to get involved and help support local shopping. You can post specials and promotions to your social media sites and remember as a member of the Chamber you can use ChamberDeals to also promote your products and services to over a thousand monthly visitors. Lets work together to make Small Business Saturday® a huge success!

Lastly, I am expecting my first child shortly and will be taking time away to be with my family so you may not see or hear from me for a few months. I will be returning just in time for spring and am only an email away should anyone need me.

I hope everyone has a great and prosperous season!

Bethpage Best of Long Island Voting Process

Every year from Oct. 1 to Dec. 15, voting is open for the Bethpage Best of L.I. program. During this 75-day window everyone can vote for whatever local store, restaurant, business or person they feel should hold a Bethpage Best of L.I. title.

Several businesses within the Chamber, including the Chamber, have been nominated.

Please check out the full list of nominees here and vote!

Fall Festival

Thanks to the hard work of the Business Promotion Committee and the volunteers, the First Annual Fall Festival was very successful!

On October 26th, visitors to Main Street were able to enjoy a farmers market, a petting zoo, shop at local businesses and vendors, enjoy children's activities, eat fresh roasted corn provided by ShopRite of Patchogue and so much more.

Also, congratulations to the winners of the First Chili and Chowder Cook-Off PeraBell Food Bar (Best Chili) and Mediterranean Manor (Best Chowder)!

Halloween Happenings

Dozens of ghosts and goblins, I mean, Trick-or-Treaters, wandered throughout the businesses on Halloween picking up snacks as well as tokens.

Thanks to Roast Coffee & Tea Trading Company for providing the space for this year's Pumpkin Patch.

Small Business Saturday flyer

Small Business Saturday® was created and developed by American Express® in 2010 to assist in promoting and supporting small businesses across America.

This November 30th marks the 4th Annual Small Business Saturday® which has gained in popularity since its installation and has helped in the campaign to encourage shoppers to patronize local shops, restaurants and service providers.

The Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce and the Bellport Chamber of Commerce are coordinating efforts to assist in the promotion of this exciting day to encourage individuals to SHOP LOCAL.

A trolley service will be available for visitors to travel between Bellport and Patchogue to shop and find great gifts just in time for the holiday season, discover our local service providers and also sample the fine food establishments that each of our communities have to offer.

We hope that you will join us and all small businesses nationwide on Saturday, November 30 for Small Business Saturday®!

What is #GivingTuesday?

After Black Friday, Small Business Saturday® and Cyber Monday-days that celebrate buying gifts for the holidays-is a Tuesday that is now called #GivingTuesday, a day set aside to focus on giving and supporting local charities. With this in mind, we ask you to remember the Chamber's non-profit Greater Patchogue Foundation.

Our Foundation supports local charitable endeavors, including cultural heritage events, beautification, scholarships and the recently created C.O.A.D (Community Organization Active in Disaster) that was established to aide local families in need in the aftermath of a natural disaster. Any contribution you can make to the Foundation goes directly to these needs and is tax deductible. As with shopping for gifts, please make sure that when you make a charitable donation, you do it locally.

More information on the movement is available here.

Please contact the Foundation at 631-207-1000 or email info@patchogue.com for more information on how to donate.
Sincerely,
Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce
