Final Library Move Is Soon

Work has begun on a foundation for the relocated Carnegie Library at its final destination, on the west side of the Courthouse. The historic building is expected to be atop that foundation in a month. The Patchogue-Medford Library plans to move its young adult section into what once was its main building.

TRITEC Rises

The $100 million downtown TRITEC project is moving quickly. Company officials say it is ahead of schedule and that the first occupants of its 291 apartments will be arriving in the first quarter of next year. That is also when its Lake Street parking area will be reopened to help with what is now a serious parking shortage in the area.

Theatre Walkway Reconstruction

Pavement reconstruction in the theatre walkway and the sidewalk area west to Bridgehamton Bank is underway. Patchogue Village Community Development Agency Executive Director Marian Russo says it should be finished by Memorial Day. The $200,000 CDA project is financed with federal and Suffolk County funds. Design work was also donated by Baldassano Architectural Group of Patchogue. The sealed three color stamped concrete surface will have solar powered lighting scattered throughout.

President's Message

As you know, our Executive Director, Gail Hoag will be retiring this month. Gail, you will be missed more than you will ever know! For 15 years, Gail has been our go-to-gal, providing us with any information we have needed, she always knows the happenings and goings on in Patchogue and beyond. Her assistance to our members has been invaluable and she knows every one of them by name and can tell you anything you need to know about their business. These are some HUGE shoes to fill, that is for sure. I am sure Gail will enjoy having more time with her family and I hope she sends us postcards from all her exciting travels!

Have no fear, the Search Committee is here! The members of this newly formed committee are busy at work reviewing many qualified candidates and beginning the interview process. Rest assured we will find the best possible applicant for this position. In the meantime, Krystle DiNicola and Jon Maggio, the chamber's Administrative Assistants, are here to assist you with any inquiries and needs. They have been busy with the planning of Alive After Five®, the upcoming HIA Tradeshow on May 23rd and the Chamber Directory and will continue to maintain the regular office hours of the chamber to provide our members and the community with the best service possible.

The Patchogue Theatre hosts a large number of Dance Recitals each year in May and June. These are events that attract a large number of theatre visitors and affect nearby parking.
