More Parking Lost To TRITEC Project
This photo by Jacqueline Hensley gives a nice view of the present
progress of the TRITEC West Main Street project which should be completed in about a year. The construction has put severe pressure on parking in the area and the situation is now worse. TRITEC has closed its 40 space temporary lot at the corner of Havens Ave. and Main St. to begin building construction there.

Big Crowds For St. Patrick's Day

The Saffron United Pipe Band led this year's St. Patrick's Parade which was held on March 17. The parade coincides with the holiday only when the holiday, as this year, occurs on Sunday. Saffron United, again this year, was awarded the Mayor's Cup for
Best Pipe Band. The Foundation Trophy for the Most Irish unit went to Long Island Pipe and Drums. The Grand Marshal Trophy for the Best Overall unit was won by Bella Vino. James McPeak was awarded the Big Mouth award as the Past Grand Marshal with the loudest cheering section.

The First Place Winner of the May The Road Rise To Meet Ye 5K Run that preceded the parade was Brendan Barrett at 17:40:80. Katie McGrath was the First Place Female at 19:06:85. The race featured more than 300 runners.

President's Message

Spring has finally sprung! After a long, cold and windy winter Patchogue is coming out of hibernation and the streets are once again beginning to bustle with shoppers and activities.

April brings a number of fun events for members and the community.

The Patchogue Arts Council had its first annual South by South Shore Music and Arts Festival, music, art, poetry and foods from Patchogue April 2nd through April 7th. On April 10th, Hoptron Brewtique and The Cheese Patch are hosting a Networking & Tasting event! This is a great opportunity to sample local craft beers and exquisite cheeses from two of our members!

Thursday, April 18th, please join us in celebrating our member, this year's Patchogue Chamber of Commerce honoree, Harold Trabold. at the Brookhaven Chambers of Commerce Awards Ceremony.

The Business Promotion Committee is having a Cash Mob on Saturday, April 20th. Come and take advantage of promotions and discounts while supporting your local economy! The Annual Eloise Staudinger Beautification Fundraiser is on April 24th at Harbor Crab aboard the Barefoot Princess. Please come and support the ongoing beautification of Patchogue! For more information about these and more events happening in April visit patchogue.com.

On a more serious note, recently, there has been a rash of criminal activity occurring in our surrounding towns. I want to remind our members to be cautious and to report any unusual or suspicious activity immediately to Patchogue Village Public Safety and/or the police. If you need an escort from Public Safety to your vehicle, they are just a phone call away, (631)-475-1225.

Lastly, we need your feedback. A number of members have contacted the chamber to discuss parking issues that are impacting their business, particularly in the Downtown Business District. We ask that if you have not done so already please call or email us with your concerns. We hope to be able to work with the Village to come to a resolution that will help us all.
