Has Your Integrity Been Tested Lately?

It brings to mind a story I heard about a mom (Betty) who was visiting her son John, and his roommate  Mary for dinner one evening. As they sat at the dining room table, Betty noticed that Mary was a very attractive young lady. Betty politely asked John what the living arrangements were in the household, to which he replied that he and Mary were just roommates.

About a week later Mary noticed that her favorite gravy ladle had been missing since the night John's mother had come to dinner. She approached John and asked if he thought his mother might have stolen it.  

John proceeded to send his mother this email. "Mary's favorite gravy ladle has been missing since you came to dinner. I am not saying you took it, but I am also not saying you didn't."

A couple of days later Betty responded to her son's email.  "I am not saying you are inappropriately cohabitating with Mary, and I am not saying you're not. But, if Mary had been sleeping in her bed she would have found her ladle."
