HEAR OUR VOICE
Experience the story of three lives affected by Parkinson's in a three and half minute music video featuring residents and staff, with an original music score taped live on location at Osprey Lodge. The evening will also feature a guest speaker, refreshments, entertainment, behind the scene stories, and a chance to meet the cast, performers and musicians.
The collaborative efforts of the staff at Osprey Lodge seek the beauty and purpose in all life. A team from Osprey Lodge learned of a Parkinson's video contest and assembled an award winning team to speak for those afflicted and their loved ones who are left to make sense of it all.
"I am a scholar who cannot teach, a teacher who cannot read and a historian who cannot process the past. I am a shadow of my former self."
These words are part of a poem written by Dick Tinapp, a resident of Osprey Lodge, who is dealing with Parkinson's disease. Dick wrote this emotionally charged poem about how he felt finding out that he had Parkinson's disease which has been incorporated in the lyrics of the video.
John O'Leary, also a resident of Osprey Lodge, imparts a moving experience by sharing his original heartfelt poem inspired by the passing of his wife.
Sasha Butler, an employee of Osprey Lodge, performs as a young life that reluctantly discovers the life changing world of Parkinson's.
The song that weaves itself behind the FACES of Parkinson's and ties the three stories together is sung by Dori Hanna. The Head Nurse at Osprey Lodge, Dori, received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance at Stetson University and continued her graduate studies in Opera Performance at New England Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts. She brings her love of music as well as her love for the residents to this original composition.
The FACES of Parkinson's Video also features the acclaimed talent of Karen Allen and Zoriy Zinger. Karen Allen began playing the piano at age two. Following Ph.D. studies in music composition at Princeton University, she toured extensively as singer and pianist, including years on and off Broadway. Rabbi Allen believes that one person can make a difference, and that music can help make the world a better place in which to live.
Zoriy Zinger started his remarkable career as a violinist at the age of six. As soloist of the Russian Symphony Orchestra, he has had a stellar career in America, including performances at New York City's Metropolitan Museum, Lincoln Center, and Museum of Modern Art; programs on CBS and ABC television; and shows with popular musical artists such as Ray Charles and Ricky Martin.
The World Parkinson Congress works to advance science, promote community, and inspire hope and sees video as a way to achieve these aims. The video competition is designed to promote the Road to a Cure. This video will be entered in the Creativity and Parkinson's category, pertaining to the human virtue of creativity and how it impacts your life.
