Everyone remains very busy at Osprey Lodge, as resident move-ins continue at a steady pace. Of course, job one is hiring qualified staff to secure the safety and health of our residents. Job two will be to start driving our culture.
So what the heck is our culture? It is not just a warm, homey, beautifully decorated building. The unique environment we have created to live in is designed to "complement" our culture, not "be" our culture. We are getting ready to adventure into something that many, many caregivers told us can't be done.
If you are a resident at the Lodge, we are making it our job to discover your God-given gifts, and provide the avenues and the tools to make a difference in your community. If you are a seamstress, can we set you up to help make blankets for the homeless? If you are a baker, can you help bake cookies or create cookbooks with the Girl Scouts to sell for fundraisers? Could it be that the opportunities to team up with our residents and create unique companies for philanthropy are endless?
We have a couple retirees who formerly owned very large businesses, as well as an electrical engineer and a journalist for a large newspaper. While these folks may be getting around a little slower, they are very capable. I can certainly see that just cards and bingo are not going to get it. That is where our culture comes in; stay tuned. |
