Reports show that nearly half of the nation's undergraduates attend community college.  Students are attracted by affordable tuition, easy access, outstanding faculty and a broad range of academic programs.  Nationwide, approximately half of these students rely on some form of financial support. At St. Petersburg College, about two-thirds of our students fall into this category.

Thanks to the continued generosity of our donors, the SPC Foundation awarded over $1.5 million in scholarships last year. This support helps ensure that students gain the preparation and training necessary for rewarding careers and satisfying lives.

If you have an interest in supporting SPC scholarships, it's as easy as clicking the "Donate Now" button to the left. And, as always, you may also call us for additional information at (727) 341-3302.

On behalf of all the students whose lives are improved by your involvement, thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

City of St. Petersburg Partnership Supports Early Childcare Training

A new partnership with the City of St. Petersburg will provide scholarships totaling almost $50,000 to students working toward certification in early childcare development/preschool education. The program is open to childcare professionals in licensed childcare facilities in targeted areas of the city. Spearheaded by St. Petersburg City Councilman Karl Nurse, the project is an effort to improve school readiness among the City's schoolchildren and close the achievement gap.

"The heart of our strategy in our neighborhoods and in combatting poverty is investing in people, and we know there is no better investment than in our youngest children," said St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman.

Rebecca Rodriguez took the Grand Prize of $5,000 for her business targeting fashion solutions for shapely women. Michael Ganote won the 1st Place prize of $1,000 in the Elevator Pitch Competition for his business concept to provide employers HR solutions that improve the bottom line.
