SPC Students Travel to Tallahassee
Gaining insight into state law-making

The College's annual student leadership retreat to Tallahassee is a dynamic, hands-on opportunity that provides students with an understanding of our political process, the value of liberty and the importance of civic engagement.

This year, SPC President Bill Law hosted 50 students from across the college for a fast-paced, full day of activities, including a mock session with the House of Representatives, a tour of the Senate and lunch and a Q & A on the House portico with Dr. Law and a number of Tampa Bay legislators. Students also attended the Senate Education Appropriations Committee meeting to learn how money is being allocated to the state's education system and explored the history of Florida's government with visits to the Old Capitol and the Museum of Florida History.
