10 Core Values For Building A Positive Sales Culture

Hiring Checklist - Book Review: Delivering Happiness, Tony Hsieh

A wonderful gift this year for your team may be the

book Delivering Happiness by Tony Hsieh, CEO, Zappos.com, Inc.  He is creative and definitely an out-of-the-box thinker. This book is captivating for both employees and entrepreneurs. It is an easy read and is written as a comic book. Tony's story is engaging and interesting.

He starts by sharing a story about his first business when he was in the 9
th grade. It was a worm business and although it failed it launched his insatiable appetite for business and his entrepreneurial spirit was awakened.  Tony talks about his successes including the sale of his first technology company to Microsoft for $265 million and the sale of Zappos to Amazon for $1 billion which he remains the CEO of today.

Resume Tip: Choose Your Words Wisely

As a Sales Recruiter, I interview hundreds of sales people a year. Most are good at verbalizing what they have done throughout their career but can't necessarily create a resume that reflects that information accurately on paper. Many claim that they have tweaked and rewritten their
resumes over and over again with the same results - a resume that is getting them nowhere. The goal of your resume is to open the door of conversation with a hiring manager. Remember the resume
is viewed BEFORE the interview takes place. So if the resume falls short, so will your chances of getting an interview.

A resume is not a page full of flowery words but rather a concise story of your accomplishments, skills and experience.  A hiring manager should be able to quickly read your resume and conclude that you are worth an interview. Keep it simple and to the point.  Don't litter the page with meaningless phrases.  Every word counts and if your resume is just a bunch of words with no real meaning your resume will be tossed aside.

Make Smart Hires: What is Your Plan to Hire in Q1?

The ball has dropped, the champagne has been drunk, the smoke has cleared and the End of Year Fog has lifted - 2013 is officially under way and we are already half way through January.

A lot of us have been through our Kick Off meetings and we are off and running but some of us have not gotten off to the quick start we were hoping for.  For a lot of you, you are just getting your 2013 budgets and you need to fill your head count by the end of Q1.  This is no small feat.  If you are one of these people, I have a question that I would like to help you answer - What is your plan?
