1st Grade Mesibat HaSiddur:
Yasher Kochachem!
|
|
Mazal tov to BPY's 1st Grade class on receiving their first siddurim this past Sunday at their Mesibat HaSiddur! Each child received their own siddur wrapped in a leather cover which they decorated themselves. They were excited and surprised when they opened it for the first time and saw a note from their parents full of bracha and good wishes. They could not wait to use them on Monday morning at school during tefilla! Thank you to all the incredible 1st Grade staff, our Bnot Sherut, Stacey Mahpour and Elana Cohn who worked tirelessly with the students and behind the scenes on the fabulous production and to sponsors Kara and Oren Epstein for their generous support.

Around BPY's Early Childhood
|
In keeping with their winter theme, Morah Ariella taught Gan Reut a song about children taking a walk in the rain and needing to share an umbrella. (In Israel, winter is generally known as their rainy season.) With each added verse, an additional child joins those children already crowded under the umbrella in order to stay dry. The children had so much fun acting out the song, while their Hebrew vocabulary and counting skills were reinforced.
Following a previous science experiment, Gan Rina played a fun math and literacy game with water that was once ice. Using tweezers Gan Rina picked up different objects, counted them, and recorded the amount next to its corresponding name and picture.
This week in Gan Chaverim has been learning about germs that make us sick. They made their own representations of germs using eyedroppers to drop blobs of thinned paint on our paper. Then they used straws to blow the paint in all different directions. When the paint dried, they added googly eyes and used markers to add features to their germs.
The children in Gan Shira had a great time making "W's" for WINTER using white shaving cream!

Working with experienced coaches, the children are using specially developed curricula to introduce skills, tactical elements and team concepts in a challenging and fun environment. Each player is working hard to take his or her game to the next level. Make sure to ask them to show you their moves!

4th Grade Debates - 8th Grade Judges!
|
| Today, fourth graders invited in the "esteemed eighth graders," to their Loyalist and Patriot Debate. The eighth graders heard 3 arguments and 3 counter-arguments. The fourth graders were assessed on their arguments and counter arguments, their teamwork, and their sportsmanship. Some of the eighth graders added their own ideas for arguments. It was a wonderful learning experience. We are grateful to Morah Joanne (social studies teacher) and the eighth grade for making the time to visit with us and to teach us.
