Region 2's Quick Grant program was so successful that all funds have been distributed for the current fiscal year. We'll see the Quick Grant back next year! A big thank you to both McKnight and the Legacy Fund for helping to open our eyes to art.

Artist Mentor Grant
These grants are open to students in 8th to12th grades living in Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Lake of the Woods, or Mahnomen Counties and interested in an arts focus. Students choose one-on-one time with a mentor, or attend an arts class, workshop or camp in Minnesota. This is a reimbursement grant for up to $600 made possible by the people of Minnesota, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Community Arts Support Grant
Application open! These grants are for arts organizations with a two-year history. They are two-year awards that help to provide some measure of funding stability for arts organizations so energy can be better focused on increasing the quality and availability of the arts to their communities. Organizations may qualify to apply for up to $6,000 per year based on their annual expenses. This grant is made possible by the people of Minnesota from a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Arts and Cultural Heritage Grant for Small Towns
These grants offer funding for a variety of arts projects and can cover costs associated with public art, exhibitions, or performances in three key areas: Arts Activity and Arts Access, Arts Education, and Arts and Cultural Heritage. Organizations/groups in towns with populations under 2,000 may apply for grants up to $6,000 to fund projects for the benefit of residents in Beltrami, Hubbard, Clearwater, Lake of the Woods, or Mahnomen Counties. R2AC/McKnight Individual Artist Grant
The R2AC Individual Artist Grants Program, funded through the McKnight Foundation, provides financial assistance to artists that show serious commitment to creative growth and career advancement. This program is designed for artists at various stages in their arts career. Up to $2,000 is available for expenses related to exhibition, performance or production of a specific creative endeavor, as well as mentorships and collaborations. Our online form will be available in December.

Native American Juried Arts and Crafts Festival
The Plains Art Museum in Fargo, ND and Daughters of the Earth are partnering to celebrate Native American Heritage Month in the Museum Atrium from 11:00 to 4:00 pm. The festival will showcase Native American artists from Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Dakotas. Unique handmade gifts will abound. Please contact Mary John to collaborate, donate or volunteer. This event is sponsored by the Daughters of the Earth, the Native American Commission and The Plains Art Museum. The festival will include photographs by Joseph Allen, photographer and Region 2 Board Member representing Mahnomen County.
International Game Day
Accidentally Cool Games is teaming up with Bemidji Public Library to celebrate International Game Day from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the library! Stir up your creative potential with a bit of problem-solving and camaraderie.
November 20-22, 2015 Hello, Dolly!
Bemidji Community Theater presents "Hello Dolly!" based on a play by Thornton Wilder. Performances still to come are November 20-21 at 7:30 pm and November 22 at 2:00 pm. Supported in part from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund by way of the Region 2 Arts Council. Another win!

Holidays by Hand, Bemidji's 5th Annual Fine Arts and Crafts Festival, will again be hosted by the Boys and Girls Club of the Bemidji Area, 1600 Minnesota Ave, Bemidji, on Saturday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Last year over 1400 people came out to support our local arts community. Applause for Handmade!

Manidoo Giizisoons Feast (Feast of the Little Spirit Moon) with The Sioux Chef will be held on December 20th in Duluth. The evening will include a Native craft fair, silent auction, and a 4-course feast celebrating the abundance of our Anishinaabe Akiing. All traditional "pre-contact" foods will be prepared using the methods of our ancestors. Proceeds support work to protect our water, manoomin (wild rice), Mother Earth, and way of life. Feast!

Bemidji Sculpture Walk Entries!
February 1, 2016 Deadline
The Bemidji Sculpture Walk committee will select the 20 best submissions, based on their conceptual strength, originality, and workmanship. These 20 will be presented for 12 months in locations throughout Bemidji. Honorariums and cash prizes will be awarded. All artwork will be advertised for sale or loan unless otherwise specified. Jerome Study & Travel Grant February 25, 2016 Deadline
This year the Travel and Study Grant Program will award grants to emerging artists that create new work in the following disciplines: dance; film, video, and digital production; literature-including choreographers, film and video directors, and writers of poetry, creative nonfiction, fiction, and spoken word. Funds support periods of travel for the purpose of study, exploration, and growth. Travel!
The Minnesota Shorts Play Festival
Submissions January 1 to March 1, 2016
Playwrights living in Minnesota may submit up to 2 scripts of 10 pages or less with a community focus. Seven scripts will be performed September 8-9, 2016 in Mankato. Both nights a "Best of the Fest" winner will be chosen by the audience for a $100 playwright prize. Write!
