principal's message
Dear Langley High School Families:

This week is National Volunteer Week. Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful parents of Langley High School who spend countless hours helping our teachers, staff, administrators, and administrative assistants with everything from clinic support to Career Center activities to organizing humongous programs like the Alcohol Awareness Program last week.

Langley High School has a long tradition of positive parent involvement that has led to a trusting, collaborative culture in almost every aspect of high-school life. Parent volunteers have made things happen in academics, athletics, performing arts, clubs, class events, and so many other special programs. The support you provide our students and your children make this a very special place to live and learn. We could not do anything without this volunteer army.

Please accept our gratitude and thanks on behalf of everyone here at Langley High School.

~Matthew J. Ragone
ptsa family network
THANK YOU!!! Last week, the PTSA Family Network Committee organized an Alcohol Awareness Program for all junior and senior students. This program is unique to Langley and beyond the scope of programs at other high schools.

The interactive education it provides to students would not be possible without the support of many:  first and foremost, our wonderful parent volunteers: Ann Haley, Sandi Robinson, Tim Thompson, Lea Ann Edwards, Cynthia Cross, Leslie Kiess, Gail Welch, Barb Long, Marion Devlin, Paula Delk, Aradhana Luthra, Karuna Nag, Karen Alden, Hortense Dunbar, Wendy Biliter, Todd Brunjes, Anne Shaw, Jacquelyn Cho, Colette Worm, Matt Haley, Beth Eames, Lien-Rung Kao, and Christy Slade; the TWENTY Fairfax County Police Officers who devoted two full days to working with our Langley students (you may have seen their police cars in the parking lot last week); Safe Community Coalition; Medicine Chest in McLean; and KKP Printers. In addition, we would like to offer a special thank you to the LHS administration and staff for their cooperation, the Leadership Class students and teachers for their support, and particularly the English and PE Departments for their patience and flexibility.

AP scores different
"Beginning in July 2013, AP® scores will be available online only. If your child has taken an AP Exam in the past or is planning to take one this year, he or she will need a College Board account to access scores. In addition, students will use this account to send their AP scores to colleges. . . . To make sure the process of getting scores in July is quick and easy, we strongly suggest all students go to apscore.org and try signing in to their account now to make sure they remember their username and password Remember, AP scores will not be sent by mail this year. Students will use their College Board account to get scores, so remind your child to keep his or her username and password in a safe place. Stay tuned for further updates at <apscore.org>."

merci, gracias, & danke
Gratitude....for our teachers and support staff that make our school so great! Help us to say "thank you" with gift cards for our Teacher and Staff Appreciation Luncheon on May 10. We really need our Langley families to consider donating one or more $15, $20, or $25 gift cards. Or if preferred, cash or check of any denomination are accepted--checks should be made out to "Langley PTSA." Mark your envelope "Staff Appreciation" and have your student drop it off at the Main Office by Fri, May 3, 2013. Some gift card suggestions include gas cards, Target, Amazon, Giant, etc. Many thanks to those families who have already contributed!

We are still in need of many more gift cards.
Thank you in advance for your support of Langley's faculty and staff!
