The Langley Read is a school-wide initiative to bring the LHS community together . . . with a book! The "one book, one community" idea will foster cross-curricular conversations and enrich Saxon Country with a common reading experience. The Langley community will kick off the year in September with activities promoting the literary and social value of reading the chosen book. Ongoing discussions led by teachers and students throughout the school year will fully explore the complexity of the Langley Read book. What should that book be?

The PTSA Family Network Committee is looking for volunteers to help with the spring Alcohol Awareness Program on April 18 and 19. Volunteer slots are from 7:00-11:00 am, and 11:00-2:15 pm. All juniors and seniors will get a chance to experience some effects of impairment by wearing impaired-vision goggles and performing simple and complex tasks. We did this two years ago, and it was a big success. This is a fun opportunity to interact with the students while helping them understand the very real dangers of underage drinking. Questions and RSVP, please contact Betsy Shomaker at <shomaker.jb@verizon.net>.
