parents *can* participate at langley

Once your children are in high school, there are few opportunities to be involved in their school life. Here are a few that might appeal to you and your family:

relay for life: Come join the excitement of Relay for Life and help raise funds for the American Cancer Society. It's an opportunity to celebrate those who have battled cancer, remember lost loved ones, and fight back against the disease.  The PTSA is creating a team to walk and support the community efforts of the Langley-McLean Relay for Life.  Any member of the PTSA is welcome to join us.  We will walk at Langley on Sat, Apr 27 at 6 pm through Sun, Apr 28 at 6 am.  You don't have to stay all 12 hours, just sign up for a shift to walk.  Coffee will be available . . . lots of coffee, if you do want to stay! Please contact Betsy Shoemaker, LHS PTSA President, at <shomaker.jb@verizon.net>, if you would like to join our team.

test proctors: Langley needs parent volunteers to help proctor the AP Exams beginning Mon, May 6 through Thur, May 16. We need proctors for both the 8 am morning exams and the noon afternoon. We welcome any and all volunteers, only asking that you make the commitment to stay the entire testing time assigned. Training will be provided. Parents whose students are taking AP exams can serve as proctors, though not for the APs that their student is taking. Please contact Jennifer Baldesare in the Student Services Department, <jlbaldesare@fcps.edu
> or 703-287-2734, by April 1 if you are interested.

2013-2014 PTSA: The PTSA leadership will soon be busy forming committees and is thinking (already!) about the next school year. If you'd like to get involved in any way, please contact SueAnn Morabito, <rs4mor@verizon.net>. You can make a difference at Langley!
