Maybe you haven't thought of SEEDS as a job creator before. David has. He is a senior in Kalkaska, a Junior Team Leader with SEEDS and on track to graduate - but he wasn't two years ago. Back then, as he contemplated dropping out of school, SEEDS offered him a Youth Corps position. "I almost didn't take the job," he admitted, "because one of the requirements was that I had to stay in school." The right job can change a life.
Says David, "Through SEEDS I've gotten to experience a lot of things I never expected to do, like traveling to the Manitou Islands and to Washington D.C. I've also gotten to teach adults about river management and to speak in front of groups."
SEEDS mission is at the intersection of conservation and job creation, be it dozens of part-time Youth Corps members employed, 75% of SEEDS expenses staying local, or work created in our area through SEEDS energy efficiency programs. A white paper created by SEEDS engineer, Barton Kirk found that, "For Grand Traverse County, we conservatively projected $212 million saved over 30 years and the creation of 76 jobs annually by focusing on a just few key energy efficiency opportunities." Investing in SEEDS is an investment in community resilience. You can be confident that donations of money and time to SEEDS will be re-invested wisely and to the benefit of all our grandchildren's children. Would you consider a tax-deductible investment in us this year? It's as easy as the click of a button.
