Great start for Restaurants in 2013
From fine dining to takeout, the variety of dining options that can be found in the islands is world famous. Well-known for it's dynamic restaurant scene, Hawaii has seen solid interest in commercial space as restauranteurs nationwide invest and remodel at record levels.* Here are some exciting new restaurant deals we've brokered that will be opening in 2013!

The Kahala Hotel & Resort
Set for a late spring opening, Arancino at The Kahala is a fine dining restaurant featuring traditional Napoli-style cuisine with a unique Japanese flair. This 5-star resort is consistently rated one of the top destinations on Oahu, just ten minutes from Waikiki on a secluded beach. Arancino at The Kahala will open in the former location of Tokyo Tokyo and feature a wood burning pizza oven, display kitchen, private dining room, and inside and outside al fresco dining areas. On the menu is an extensive selection of ingredients imported from Italy as well as unique 'gibier' dishes (game meat), secondi, pizza, pasta, and antipasti. This is the third location for the restaurant which also operates Arancino on Beachwalk Avenue and Arancino di Mare in the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort- both award winning restaurants that are ranked first and second on Yelp! and Trip Advisor. The existing locations were also awarded the 'Certificate of Excellence' in 2012 from Trip Advisor.

Honolulu
In the heart of
Kaimuki, the former Victoria Inn space at
1120 12th Avenue is getting a complete makeover and will be the expanded home of the 12th Ave Grill. With it's original location still open just down the street, construction is well underway with opening day planned for late summer. 12th Avenue Grill specializes in contemporary American cooking with a commitment to fresh, locally sourced and seasonal ingredients in a cozy bistro-style setting. Sustainable seafoods, organic island produce, house cured meats (grass fed of course!) pair with classic scratch bar cocktails and a tasteful wine list for every palette. 12th Ave Grill recently claimed the Gold Award for "Best Neighborhood Restaurant" in Honolulu Magazine's 2012 Hale Aina Awards.

Downtown, Hula Dog Hawaii has opened it's second location at 1102 Bishop Street. In addition to it's Kuhio location, this spot is sure to be a hit with the lunchtime crowd. "I never thought I would have a hot dog business in my entire life, but I love what I do", says owner Dominique Quinette, who started with a kiosk in Kauai as a way to attract art gallery customers and went on to create the Puka Dog concept after she realized the hot dogs were doing better than the art. Represented by Beall Corp, Hula Dog is looking to grow it's Hawaii presence with a few more locations this year including Haleiwa.

Ko Olina
On Oahu's West side the highly anticipated Monkeypod Kitchen by Merriman has opened it's first Oahu location at Ko Olina Station. Award winning Chef Peter Merriman honed his "Lucky Live Hawaii" story at his first location with a dazzling menu that any Hawaii foodie would be proud of. It's a party every night with live music daily, 36 craft brews on tap served at the optimum 29 degrees, culinary cocktails, kiawe wood oven pizza and locally sourced and socially conscious foods. The restaurant's gorgeous design perfectly compliments it's hand-crafted menu and features outdoor seating, wrap-around bar and a two-story waterfall in the spacious 10,000 sq. ft. site. Look for more great openings at Ko Olina Center and Station as spaces continue to fill.

Queens' MarketPlace
On the Big Island, Chef Thepthikone Keosavang, aka "TK", has opened Lemongrass Express in the Queens' MarketPlace Food Court. The fast Asian Fusion concept featured at QMP, carries many of the same menu items as Lemongrass Bistro, the popular Kailua-Kona restaurant he opened two years ago. TK's story is anything but typical. A native of Laos, TK spent several years in refugee camps in Cambodia and the Philippines before finally immigrating to the U.S. at age 12. TK started as a prep cook at The Pepper Mill Restaurant at MGM Grand, Vegas and quickly excelled through the MGM organization. Taking every opportunity to expand his expertise, TK accepted his dream job as chef de cuisine at Brown's Beach House at The Fairmont Orchid 8 years ago before opening his own restaurant.

Food Network Star finalist Ippy Aiona has opened his first restaurant, Ippy's Hawaiian BBQ, also in the Food Court. The restaurant serves Aiona's own twist on the iconic Hawaiian "plate lunch" with favorites like brined rotisserie chicken basted in homemade teriyaki sauce, furikake mahi burger, miso fried chicken, BBQ ribs and more, served with Ippy's specialty sauces, home-style gravies and indulgent desserts. This is the first restaurant for Aiona, who grew up in the family restaurant business where he worked as executive chef. Aiona attended California Culinary Academy and Le Cordon Bleu in San Francisco and combines sophisticated culinary techniques with mellow island style.

These great eateries are taking the QMP Food Court to new heights with their gourmet quality offerings at moderate price points. Queens' MarketPlace in Waikoloa Beach Resort offers the perfect selection of dining options after your Big Island shopping day.
