Fall 2015 Colors - Cadmium Orange

Cadmium Orange reminds me of an Orange Creamsicle...anyone remember how getting one from the ice-cream truck was the mountaintop moment of hot summer days as a kid?

Cadmium Orange is a warm tone we expect to see in summer which transitions well into fall as temperatures drop and leaves change. Cadmium Orange can be a pop of color or stand alone as a dramatic, bold statement.

Cadmium was the paint pigment favored by Impressionist painters Czanne, Monet, and Matisse. Cadmium is one of the most rare and expensive artist pigments because it enriches the vibrancy and depth of yellows, oranges, and reds. A warning, however: the European Union is proposing a ban on Cadmium due to potential toxicity if eaten.

Cadmium Orange is fun and playful suggesting Spessartite Garnet or Peach Tourmaline. Roger faceted the 3.09ct Peach Tourmaline below in an asscher style, one of his signature cuts.
