Sharing the Rough shown in Tucson!

Last week we had two Private Showings of "Sharing the Rough"! This documentary was simply an idea five years ago, a tiny seed in the visionary mind of Orin Mazzoni III, a third generation jeweler and gemologist. Orin had known Roger for years through his Dad's store, Orin Jewelers, in Michigan. Orin left the jewelry business to pursue his passion for making films. In this documentary his passion for jewelry, film, and people  intersect in a powerful way.

Last January a team of thirteen travelled to Tanzania and Kenya to begin an incredible journey...to document the lives of East African miners and their mining sites.

Our goal was to find and follow a significant piece of rough from discovery in a mine, back to Roger's shop for faceting, on to a designer, and then to the heart and home of a retail consumer...all without a script. A tall order, a huge vision, an incredible opportunity.

People loved "Sharing the Rough". Some said they were inspired. Some said they learned. Some said it renewed their passion for this industry.

Coming soon to a venue near you...the next step for "Sharing the Rough"  is film festivals and exposure to the jewelry industry. During April we'll be at the AGS Conclave and in the Houston and Dallas Film Festivals.

We'll keep you updated!
