A Brief Content Of What Is In This Issue
Greetings,

Wishing peace and joy for a happy New Year,

The Epiphany of the Lord

Then Herod called the magi secretly
and ascertained from them the time of the star's appearance. He sent them to Bethlehem and said,  "Go and search diligently for the child. When you have found him, bring me word, that I too may go and do him homage." After their audience with the king they set out.
And behold, the star that they had seen at its rising preceded them, until it came and stopped over the place where the child was.
They were overjoyed at seeing the star,
and on entering the house
they saw the child with Mary his mother.
They prostrated themselves and did him homage. Then they opened their treasures
and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed for their country by another way.
Matthew 2:7-12

A Prayer For Life

Father and maker of all,
you adorn all creation
with splendor and beauty,
and fashion human lives
in your image and likeness.
Awaken in every heart
reverence for the work of your hands,
and renew among your people
a readiness to nurture and sustain
your precious gift of life.
Grant this through our Lord
Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in
the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God forever and ever.
Amen

Una Oración Por La Vida

Padre y creador de todo,
que adornan toda la creación
con el esplendor y la belleza,
y la moda vidas humanas
en su imagen y semejanza.
Despierta en cada corazón
reverencia por la obra de tus manos,
y renuevas entre tu gente
una buena disposición para nutrir y sostener
tu precioso regalo de vida.
Te lo pedimos por nuestro Señor
Jesucristo, tu Hijo,
que vive y reina contigo en
la unidad del Espíritu Santo,
Dios por los siglos de los siglos.
Amén

Newly proposed dangerous legislation on assisted suicide has recently been introduced into the New York State Legislature.

This conference is designed to educate diocesan leadership on the moral, medical, legal and legislative dangers of physician assisted suicide.

Become informed and knowledgeable on how to take action to oppose this legislation and on the Church's guidance and teaching that respects all life from the moment of conception through natural death.

The Baptism of the Lord

The people were filled with expectation, and all were asking in their hearts
whether John might be the Christ. John answered them all, saying,
"I am baptizing you with water, but one mightier than I is coming.
I am not worthy to loosen the thongs of his sandals.
He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire."

After all the people had been baptized
and Jesus also had been baptized and was praying,
heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended upon him
in bodily form like a dove.  And a voice came from heaven,
"You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased."

Every Life Is Worth Living: 10 Surprising Tips For Love The Culture Won't Tell You
Respect Life Program 2015 Articles

We have a deep need for a love that will fill us to the brim. But for as much as we hear about lovein movies, songs, and TV shows, there's a lot of confusion about how to satisfy that longing within us. Could it be that we're missing something?

Pop culture tells us love is mostly about feeling good, but true love is about wanting the absolute best for the person we love. Jesus wants the absolute best for us, and he asks us to follow his example of self-sacrificial love so we can live in union with him forever. Jesus showed us what real love looks like when he died for us on the Cross. He is the only one who can fill our hearts, and when we grow in love-becoming more like him-we become more fully the people we were created to be.

Part of this growth includes living out the virtue (a habit of doing good) of chastity. While practicing chastity does require saying "no" to some things, it is actually a much bigger and better "yes" to love and the life God has planned for us.
