The 2013 - 2014 Respect Life Program is here! Featuring seven new articles on the challenges faced and foundations needed to build a culture of life, this year's title, "Open your hearts to life!," has been a favorite theme of Pope Francis. 
His witness as a faithful advocate of the Gospel of Life is a beautiful gift to the Church, and is of particular importance today in the growing shadow of the culture of death.
In this 40th year since the Roe v. Wade decision, the Respect Life Program reminds us a midst continued assaults from the culture of death that every human life is precious to God. It 's about Belonging More Deeply as we live our Christian life fully. We need to Open the Door of Faith and bring Christ's love, alive within us, to all we meet.
The program also includes a poster (featured left), and a pro-life liturgy guide. It is an excellent resource for your parish, classroom and family

AND FAST FOR PEACE IN SYRIA AND MIDDLE EAST

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. - September 4, 2013 - The Most Rev. William Murphy, bishop, Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre, has invited Catholics to join the Holy Father and the Church Universal in praying and fasting for peace in Syria and the Middle East on Saturday, September 7, 2013. "This is a day for Catholics for prayer and fasting wherever they may be," said Bishop Murphy. "I am asking all Catholics to make some particular effort of prayer at home or in their parish church for peace during this grave time in Syria and the Middle East." (More) Flier |

Rule still divides Church between houses
of worship, ministries of service.
Cardinal Dolan, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, listed three areas of concern based on the March 2012 statement of the Administrative Committee, United for Religious Freedom: (1) the narrow definition of "religious employers" that are exempted, (2) the "accommodation" of religious ministries excluded from that definition, and (3) the treatment of businesses run by people who seek to operate their companies according to their religious principles. more
