Issue No. 31
August 2013
Greetings,
Brothers and sisters:
Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
Each must do as already determined, without sadness or compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
Moreover, God is able to make every grace abundant for you, so that in all things, always having all you need, you may have an abundance for every good work.  2 COR 9:6-10

Please continue to urge your Congressional representatives to take action on Conscience Protection by going to the NCHLA . Please view the Conscience Protection Video Resource, it is another way you can speak up for Conscience Protection Rights. Pope Francis New Encyclical

Lumen fidei - The light of faith (LF) is the first Encyclical signed by Pope Francis. Divided into four chapters, plus an introduction and a conclusion, the Pontiff explains that the Letter supplements Benedict XVI's Encyclicals on charity and hope, and takes up the "fine work" carried out by the Pope Emeritus, who had already "almost completed" the Encyclical on faith. The Holy Father has now added "further contributions" to this existing "first draft".

The introduction (nos. 1-7) of LF illustrates the motivations at the basis of the document: firstly, it reiterates the characteristics of light typical of faith, able to illuminate all man's existence, to assist him in distinguishing good from evil, especially in this modern age in which belief is opposed to searching and faith is regarded as an illusion, a leap into the void that impedes man's freedom. More

Generation Life

It's a message that many of us have heard either from our parents, at Church, from our religious education programs or perhaps maybe we even read it somewhere.  It's also a message that many may have not heard yet either.  The message is, "God loves you and God has a plan for you." Surely the message is peaceful and powerful on its own, but what if you don't know who God is, let alone His plan for you? Hearing at any age how much God loves you and what he has planned for you is exciting, joyful and a message that is full of hope. Even more, that God loves you and has created you to be like him, in image and likeness effects a greater and more compelling desire to find Him and know Him.

Generation Life delivered that message to over 6500 youth, parents, educators and those with open hearts and minds to the Diocese of Rockville Centre, Long Island, New York this year. Imagine, hearts on fire and minds filled with truth speaking to youth in an age of great challenge that often injures self respect and dignity, and, in a culture that confuses the meaning of love more often than not.  Imagine again, a dedicated group of young women and men with a mission to serve and teach the message of God's love in light of who the human person is called to be.  And, imagine a team of missionaries building a culture of life that teaches respect for life and love the way God planned.  Generation Life brings that vision, and has begun to build a healthy and sustainable respect for life with lasting benefits in the DRVC.

Our youth, educators, and parents responded to the message from Generation Life with enthusiasm, joy, gratitude and hope. The impact of this message empowered our youth to question and seek answers about their own dignity and God's plan for them. Further, the message helped to begin to build a foundation of understanding that respects every human person God has created from those waiting to be born, to those whom God calls at the end of life.  The message points our youth to a new direction, a new path and a new focus, one that says, "God loves you, and God has a plan for you." Generation Life is returning to the Diocese of Rockville Centre this fall and we welcome them again to continue their mission in chastity education and spreading the Pro-Life message.

LIFE ISSUES FORUM: Supporting Both Victims of Rape

"The act of rape is so abominable, and the trauma of the victim so clearly cries out for our sympathy,
any child conceived in rape is, like his or her mother, an innocent victim. That child, too, has a right to life, and destroying the child does not punish the rapist or end the woman's trauma." More
