Greetings!
This News in Design video focuses on the largest and most comprehensive examination of driver behavior ever undertaken-the SHRP 2 Naturalistic Driving Study (NDS), which is part of the Transportation Research Board's Second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP 2). News in Design guest, Ann Brach, SHRP 2 Director, says that over the past six years, thousands of drivers from their teens to their seventies have volunteered to be recorded as they traveled over millions of miles of roadway. "Researchers are gaining valuable insight into safety issues such as distracted driving, which can lead to new programs and design features," says Brach. "The goal is saving lives."
