 World AIDS Day 
 

 

City Marks World AIDS Day with Ceremony at the Apollo Theater

This year's World AIDS Day commemoration will be more important than ever in New York: with Governor Cuomo's launch of the End AIDS Task Force. A coalition of 30+ HIV/AIDS groups gathered at the famous Apollo Theater to renew the fight against HIV/AIDS in NY State. Currently, a NY state task force comprised of NY activists and workers is meeting to develop a plan to end AIDS in NY State by 2020. A number of individuals showed up today at the Apollo and took part in the event.

Using Ice-Skating as a Tool to Inspire Education in Harlem

At the non-profit "Figure Skating in Harlem, headquartered at 125th Street, ice-skating lures the girls into the program. But it's learning and academic success that serve as the program's linchpin and true secret sauce.

Sharon Cohen, a former competitive figure skater raised in Wilmington, Del. and a graduate of Brown University, found a way to encourage females in Harlem to join a program that mixes ice-skating with academics. Read More


Aloft Cupertino Goes High-Tech with Keyless Entry Botler



The feature, called SPG Keyless, goes live at 10 hotels this week, including the two trial hotels as well as properties such as W-branded hotels in Hollywood, Calif.; New York; Hong Kong; and Doha, Qatar, and at New York's Element Times Square. The feature is available to Starwood's SPG loyalty guests who register their iPhone or Android phones through the SPG app to allow for so-called "push notifications" and who opt in for the SPG Keyless program.
