Don Lemon, the CNN anchor notorious for his "black hole swallowed airline" theory, has bought his second condominium at 2280 Frederick Douglas Boulevard, one of the priciest developments in Harlem.  

155th Street Ped Safety Fixes Clear Three Uptown Community Board Votes

 

The Manhattan side of the 155th Street Bridge is a complex intersection where pedestrians are too often forgotten within a swirl of turning vehicles and impatient drivers. The intersection is also on the border of three community boards, adding extra layers of review for DOT efforts to improve safety. Transportation committees at all three boards have voted in support of the proposal, which will add pedestrian islands and turn restrictions while shortening crossing distances and calming traffic.

Harlem "High Line" expected to create 2,000 affordable units

Harlem may be getting its own version of the High Line. The proposed project, dubbed the Harlem Promenade, would create an elevated park over a portion of the Amtrak rail lines that run along the West Side Highway. Read More

The 125th Street Rite Aid storefront has been shuttered since this summer and the old 125th Street space is up for lease.  This location just west of FDB/8th Avenue was actually one of the original post offices along the corridor but in recent decades has been used for a bingo hall upstairs and commercial shops on the lower floor. The $700 million East Harlem Entertainment Media and Cultural Center that has been planned for the past 5 years for the entire block between 2nd and 3rd Avenue on East 125th Street apparently lost a major developer in the very beginning and has since not found a replacement. Read More
